The best food that I have ever eaten was a Croque Monsier sandwich at La Petit Jardin in Los Angeles.

French toast bread with ham and cheese baked with a Bechemel sauce on top. Served with yummy seasoned french fries.

I am an excellent cook, but I cannot recreate his recipe.

Last summer, I would go to the restaurant every Saturday after leaving the gym to get this. The booty got bigger, so I limit it to special occassions.

Another dish was a Lobster Macaroni and Cheese at the O-Bar in West Hollywood. I combined their recipe with my Mom's recipe and mine tastes better than theirs (their's was runny, mine is firm).

A dessert was carrot cake I had at an Amish stand in Reading Terminal in Philly. I had it 15 years ago, and I still "taste" it. There is no way I can try to recreate this. But, I have made it my mission to try carrot cakes all over the country to find one that matches theirs. No luck so far.

Orange glazed pork loin

This is a delicious way to fix pork roast. Sometimes I make it without the glaze and it is still great. One of out family favorites.
5 lbs boneless pork loin roast, rolled
1 teaspoon salt
1 garlic clove, minced
1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon pepper
GLAZE
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 cup orange juice
1/3 cup water
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

Combine the salt, garlic, thyme, ginger and pepper; rub over the entire roast. Place roast with fat side up on a rack in a shallow roasting pan. Bake, uncovered, at 350* for 2 hours.
Meanwhile, in a saucepan, combine brown sugar and cornstarch. Stir in the remaining glaze ingredients until smooth. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes. Brush some of the glaze over roast.
Bake 1 hour longer or until a meat thermometer reads 160*, brushing occasionally with glaze. Let stand 10 minutes before slicing; serve with remaining glaze.

My friend who is now away at culinary school once made a chocolate bread that was sooooo goooood I can't stop thinking about it over a year & a half later! Best thing I ever put in my mouth, E-V-E-R. As soon as I can talk to him again, I'm going to definitely ask him about the recipe, even though I'm not very good at baking bread. I've never eaten anything quite like it; they used to have a chocolate-cherry bread at Panera, but I never got a chance to try it. I hope my boy still makes it.

The best food I've eaten is duck breast in apricot sauce. Duck is greasy and expensive, not the best thing for someone trying to lose weight. Tiramisu is the best dessert; I could eat it every day, it's so damn good, but it's expensive to buy and/or complicated to make, plus its fattening.

My favorite food is pizza. You change the toppings and you change the taste. Man, I could eat pizza every night.
