potty training at 2?

Question

MY SON WILL BE 3 IN NOVEMBER. I AM TRYING TO POTTY TRAIN HIM CAUSE I HAVE A BABY ON THE WAY AND DONT WANT 2 KIDS IN DIAPERS. WHEN I CATCH HIM HIDING AND POOPING I TRY TO TAKE HIM TO THE TOLIET AND HE SAYS..NO...STOPIT...ANYONE HAVE ANY TIPS?......

Have his father take him to the bathroom every time he goes. This worked for my son and I had him trained shortly before he turned two. Diapers are too expensive to have two kids in. I fell for you.

K, don't laugh but I was watching Super Nanny last night and she said the best way to know if a child is ready to be potty trained is if they go down for a nap and wake up with a dry diaper. This means that they are gaining some kind of bladder control.
Make sure you give praises and rewards something simple like a dum dum sucker or a stick of their fav thing at the moment. Good Luck!

Definitely explain to him that big boys use the potty and diapers are for babies. Make a chart on a dry erase board and every time he uses the potty correctly he gets a check mark and every time he goes in his diaper you take one off. After certain numbers of checks he gets different rewards for example the first time he gets a sticker and after five he gets his favorite meal etc. Take him to the store with you and show him pull-ups and tell him that you can get him pull-ups so that he can be a big boy and use the bathroom but if he makes a mess-up it's ok. Then show him the boys underwear and tell him that big boys get to wear underwear and only after he learns to not need pull-ups will you buy him big boy underwear. Maybe even let him pick some out to bring home so that if he is doing well you can show him the package and that he is going to get big boy underwear. Some stores also sell things called "piddlers" for teaching little boys to aim when they pee. You can make it a game and maybe he will enjoy it.

First of all do not begin till your daughter is capable. If they don't seem to be capable, then it'll be more difficult and take longer. Do no longer use pull ups, get fabric pants and stick with them. Be steady. Don't transfer from side to side among diapers and the fabric (you'll nonetheless use diapers at night time till they get up dry so much nights). If they don't seem to be staying dry at night time, it may be a well indication that the baby is not capable. Have tons of persistence and encouragement. If you don't seem to be already doing this, take your daughter into the toilet with you whenever you cross in order that she will see what you do at the potty and that it is not quite that frightening (many kids begin out afraid of the potty). Good luck, you might as well resign yourself to having a fight on your hands or two kids in diapers at the same time. Most boys don't train until between 3 and 3 1/2 years old.

First I assume this is your only child at the moment. My son was fascinated by coins at 2, and anything shiny. I also assume you have a childs potty chair. When he pee'd I would give him a penny and when he pooped I would give him a nickel. He was potty trained by the end of the first day and he had a beanie hat full of coins to play with! He went pee every 10 mins... lol but hey it was well worth it! Find something your son is fascinated by and use that as the reward is my suggestion.

well my daughter just turned three and she even wears underwear to bed now. i started when shee was 17 month.
i did it like this.
i took her to the bathroom with me.always, at first she would not sit on her potty , she wanted to play with stuff on the counter, so i started making sound effects. for what ever i was doing and i would laugh at myself and so would she.
after a couple of times she started pretending to be peeing in her potty and making sounds. i took her in the bathroom every 45 - 60 minutes. and everytime she sat , wheather she pottied or not , i would praise her, and tell her how amazing she was.
well, she still hadnt learned #2 , and started taking her diapers off herself, she would get poop everywhere, really quick to. i don't think your son is trying to hide. i think he knows he shouldnt poop in his pants but doesnt really know how to make it come out ,kids can get embarrased at this age. my daughter was , so , even though i dont let her watch south park, i did tell her that we put mr. hankey in the toilet, so everytime she pooped her diaper we took it to the toilet and dumped it . after that she was potty trained fully .she has been completely trained for at least 8 months. good luck and hope i helped.

Both my kids ( they are girls) were three before they were completely potty trained. I tried evererything and finaly just stopped putting pull-ups on them and on both of them they never once went in their underwear. I wish I would have done it way before that. I also work at a daycare in the two's room. I told two of my parents on what I did with my girls and it worked with one of them. p.s. I have went to a couple of classes on how to potty train and they all reccomend not to use pull-ups they are too expensive. diapers are apparently the way to go. Good Luck!! I've been there.

Getting the little boys to pee in the toilet I always used cherrios. I would tell them they had to sink the cherrios in the "Sink the Cherrios game."
I read in a book when I was potty training one of my six children, that you should have a "Potty Party" The first few times they use the toilet correctly. You get really excited and cheer, blow them up a balloon, or reward them with a favorite candy or privilege.

You keep it up until they get the hang of it, then let it fizzle down to "That was so good, you are really becoming a big and Strong man like daddy."

Last, I would add to get them to the toilet, bribe them.

My son wanted to go when I gave birth to my baby. I think he wanted to feel like the BIG brother. And now my baby (10 months) is fasinanated when my 3 year old goes potty. He'll go when he is ready.
