Are you laying it over an old floor? if so, Do it in the opposite direction of the old floor, at an angle.
Then length way of your house is good, for secure nailing, but for apearance, Diagnal to door to door. Door///door.
You can have fun, and do diamond shapes, or the sqaure in sqaure look, if you have more time, and tools. Its definantly an investment, to put more effort into a unique style.

So that they are parel to any exterior doors or bathrooms. So if there is water damage, just a couple of boards could be removed instead of one off each end.
