Jesus Lied About Prayer

Jesus is quoted many times in the Bible saying that a believer can ask for anything through prayer and receive it. He even goes so far as to say that mountains and trees can be thrown into the sea simply by praying for it. This is clearly a lie, and can be proven to be a lie by any believer. Simply pray for me to be converted to Christianity right away. Or better yet ask God to move the mountains behind my house. He could make a lot of converts that way. If I’m converted today, I’ll post a public apology on my web site and devote my life to kissing God’s ***. If I’m not converted it would only be fair for you to apologize and devote your life to kissing my butt.

Here are the quotes from Jesus that proves that he lied:

1) And Jesus answered and said to them, "Truly I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree, but even if you say to this mountain, `Be taken up and cast into the sea,' it will happen. "And all things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive." (Matthew 21:21-22 NAS)

2) Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. (Matthew 7:7-8 NAB)

3) Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven. For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst. (Matthew 18:19-20 NAS)

4) Amen, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, 'Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it shall be done for him. Therefore I tell you, all that you ask for in prayer, believe that you will receive it and it shall be yours. (Mark 11:24-25 NAB)

5) And I tell you, ask and you will receive; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. (Luke 11:9-13 NAB)

6) And whatever you ask in my name, I will do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything of me in my name, I will do it. (John 14:13-14 NAB)

7) If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask for whatever you want and it will be done for you. (John 15:7 NAB)

8) It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit that will remain, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name he may give you. (John 15:16 NAB)

9) On that day you will not question me about anything. Amen, amen, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in my name he will give you. Until now you have not asked anything in my name; ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be complete. (John 16:23-24 NAB)

A lot of Christians ignore what Jesus actually says in the Bible. They also tend to add things to the actual words to make them say something else. If you honestly and truthfully read these quotes, without adding to them, it is very easy to see that Jesus is not saying that God will think about your prayers. He says God will grant all your prayers. Clearly, God doesn’t grant all prayers and this proves that Jesus was a habitual liar.

The model for prayer is provided in the "Our Father." One of the lines states "Your will be done." This is an indication that when we pray, we must put aside our own desires and consider the will of God above all things. Jesus, himself, did this in the Garden of Gethsemane, the place where He prayed right before His arrest. Knowing full well the torturous, undeserving death He would soon experience, Jesus asked His Father to take that fate from Him, but then checked Himself by adding "not My will, but Yours." So, when Jesus provides these other teachings on the prayers of supplication (there are a few different types of prayer), He was attempting to bolster the faith of His listeners by acknowledging He held all power...... but He was not negating the original model of praying within the will of God.

I hope you find this answer helpful.

You missed something. FAITH. If you actually read the full chapter of which each one of those verses came from you will notice important issues that continue to come up. First off you MUST have full faith not partial or temporary - BUT FULL FAITH. Next YOU HAVE TO HAVE UNCONDITIONAL LOVE. But, since you do not have either one of those then the things that you ask of God will not happen. Next, God is not to be tested or questioned - In the book of Job - God is questioned and then God questions Job and DEMANDS answers immediately not later but right that second.

So, through FAITH and UNCONDITIONAL LOVE the things you ask will happen. Unfortunately for you and others they will not happen.

The biggest question is this. Why would God do something to glorify you in the first place? He does not need you - You need Him. Oh, just a reminder I would watch your words, because if you blaspheme the Holy Spirit, God will never want to deal with you ever again.

It's all based on myths that have never been proved.

How many people are praying for world peace? Isn't that a decent, honest plea that is worthy of an answer? Yet, the wars continue. God does not lift a finger to intervene. Things get worse. People still pray. Nothing happens.

And yet people put themselves thru so much stress trying to believe i things when they really know in their inner hearts that they are making themselves believe in something that isn't real.

It just goes to show that a person should never believe everything that is read or heard.

Since you don't understand the Scriptures nor understand the nature of God, it is not suprising you would come to this conclusion. Let me add this commentary on the Matt. 7 passage which should enlighten those who care to understand.

Mat 7:7-11 -
Ask, and it shall be given you ... - There are here three different forms presented of seeking the things which we need from God - asking, ‘seeking, and knocking. The latter is taken from the act of knocking at a door for admittance. See Luk_13:25; Rev_3:20. The phrases signify to seek with earnestness, diligence, and perseverance. The promise is, that what we seek shall be given us. It is of course implied that we seek with a proper spirit, with humility, sincerity, and perseverance. It is implied, also, that we ask the things which it may be consistent for God to give - that is, things which he has promised to give, and which would be best for us, and most for his own honor, 1Jo_5:14. Of that God is to be the judge. And here there is the utmost latitude which a creature can ask. God is willing to provide for us, to forgive our sins, to save our souls, to befriend us in trial, to comfort us in death, to extend the gospel through the world. Man “can” ask no higher things of God; and these he may ask, assured that he is willing to grant them.
Christ encourages us to do this by the conduct of parents. No parent turns away his child with that which would be injurious. He would not give him a stone instead of bread, or a serpent instead of a fish. God is better and kinder than the most tender earthly parents; and with what confidence, therefore, may we come as his children, and ask what we need! Parents, he says, are evil; that is, are imperfect, often partial, and not unfrequently passionate; but God is free from all this, and therefore is ready and willing to aid us.
Every one that asketh receiveth - That is, every one that asks aright; that prays in faith, and in submission to the will of God. He does not always give the very thing which we ask, but he gives what would be better. A parent will not always confer the “very thing” which a child asks, but he will seek the welfare of the child, and give what he thinks will be most for its good. Paul asked that the thorn from his flesh might be removed. God did not “literally” grant the request, but told him that his “grace” should be “sufficient” for him. See the notes at 2Co_12:7-9.
A fish - A fish has some resemblance to a serpent; yet no parent would attempt to deceive his child in this. So God will not give to us that which might appear to be of use, but which would be injurious.

Some things that are said in the Bible are not to be taken literally. You have to study the Bible to interperet their true meaning. My father has devoted much of his adult life to studying the Bible and I believe everything that Jesus said was true if you understand its meaning. I will pray for you. Hell is a nightmare that few could imagine and you do not want to die to find out that it is a real and horrible place, not if you were given the chance to have the gift of salvation. You have nothing to loose by accecpting this gift, but your eternity to loose by refusing it. I hope God shows you the way to his son Jesus. God bless you.

I have been given all that I ask for that is in allegiance with His will. Unfortunately, Bible verses taken out of context can be made by an individual to mean anything. You asked for people to pray for your conversion! I will appease you. When you convert in 10 years, are you going to apologize to us as a group or to each of us personally? And, you will only be converted if God wills it.
Keep us posted.

The key phrase here is, "Truly I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt" which obviously is only one of the many things that you lack.
As for your denial of answered prayers, if you continued to read your Bible(if you in fact even own one),you would see that prayer gets answered under these terms ONLY, Ps 145:18 "God is near to all those calling upon Him, to all those who call upon Him in TRUENESS." Here's another one for you, 1Pe 3:12 "For the eyes of God are upon the RIGHTEOUS one...but the face of God is against those doing bad things." Need more? 1Jo 5:14 "...no matter what it is that we ask according to HIS will, He hears us." HIS will my friend, not yours. You are the one who has ignored what Jesus said. And you " tend to OMIT things to the actual words to make them say something else" You say"Simply pray for me to be converted to Christianity right away." Well you certainly need it.

It is true. If you Pray and have faith it will be given to you. But God Knows what we need and don't really need. For the mountains and the trees, this is true. IT TAKES FAITH. If you don't have true faith then you will receive nothing.

How ignorant!

God will NEVER do anything against our free will, It does not matter how much and how many times I pray for you, God will NEVER force you to believe in him.

By the way, one day you will see with your own eyes that everything about Jesus is true, Hopefully you are in his right side when that time comes.

Jesus loves you!

You are completely taking these out of context. God says to pray in accordance with His will. Stop being so blasphemous.
