Hurts..
however, your dentist should/ would (if you ask him/her) write a prescription for 3 different medications to relieve your pain....
These 3 prescriptions are
1. Amoxicillin 500 mg for 15 capsules
2. Promethazine 25 mg for 16 tablets
3. Percocet 10/325 mg for 25 tablets
Your doc will tell you what they does to you as he writes out the prescription paper!

That would all depend on your tolerance for pain. Someone like myself, it doesn't hurt, but to others there might be some discomfort. I am sure that they will prescribe you some antibiotics and some painkillers for the pain. They will also give you a sheet of instructions of what to do afterwards. You will have to eat soft foods for several days afterwards, and will have to gargle with some warm salt water as well. They will also probably give you a syringe looking device so that you can flush out the holes left by the teeth. If you have an maxiofacial dr do the work, it will probably be better off then having a dentist do it. It all depends on if the teeth are impacted or not. They may have to cut them out if they are impacted, and a maxiofacial dr will best be able to handle this situation. SO, if you do as they say when it is complete, you will have nothing to worry about. Make sure they give you some darvocet, or vicodine, or something along those lines. You will feel like your in la la land with no teeth. They can also gas you if you don't think that normal numbing procedures will be sufficient. I recommend this way if you can't take pain all that much. Hope this helps, and get plenty of jello, and applesauce.

If your oral surgeon is a good one, it won't...make sure you are totally numbed up and if he offers the nitrous oxide, use that as well, as it will totally mellow you out prior to the extractions (or if your insurance will cover it, have them put you out...that's the best...no pain and when you wake up it's all over)....I had 7 teeth pulled the same day to make way for a partial and after the first two hurt like hell, I requested more Novocaine and I was good for the rest of the procedure..good luck, dental work is not pleasant....

It wont hurt as long as you have a dentist who actually care's about his patients. They will give you enough Novocain so You will not feel pain during the procedure. Depending on how hard it was to take them out you may need stitches in spots. When I had my last tooth pulled it wasnt so bad. A few stitches and a little bleeding. After the novocain wears off is when the pain sets in. A little ibuprofen did it for me. If its worse for you, your physician can give you a prescription for something stronger..
Good luck and dont worry.

It really depends on your dentist. Tell your dentist to really numb up your mouth. And of course laughing gas is great stuff too! Then you shouldn't have any pain. I had a lot of teeth pulled when I was a kid to make room for braces. It didn't hurt a bit. I was sore afterward but that's what Tylenol is for.
You'll do fine. Don't worry about it!!

As long as they give you novocaine you'll be fine through the procedure. It's after the novocaine wears off that you'll feel the pain. By then it's too late.... maybe your dentist will give you some pain pills. If not buy some Tylenol PM. It'll help you sleep through the worst of it. Just get some soft food... soup, pudding, mashed potatoes, ice cream, etc.... it'll help until you heal! I had 4 wisdom teeth cut out... and I got through it by sleeping and soft foods. I would take a day or 2 off of work so you can just relax. Good luck, you'll be fine.

Lorena!!..Ask your dentist to put you out to it,or give you a needle to stop the pain. Getting a tooth out,it's simple for the dentist to give you a needle.Getting 5 out at once may require hospitalization. Either way getting your 5 teeth pulled out won't hurt.. because none of us in cyber space will feel a thing.Honest!!

Usually they hit numb your mouth with a lot of Novocaine. The shots they give you are not so pleasant, but you do not feel the pain of getting your teeth pulled. You will feel a little pressure as they remove them, but you should not feel any pain.
If your dentist has it, ask for the nitrous oxide (a.k.a. Laughing Gas). It will relax you so you will not feel nervous about getting your teeth pulled.
After you get them pulled, avoid bending over fast for the next three to four days. I did it the day I got my wisdom teeth pulled, and the blood rush to my head knocked me on my butt. Your dentist should give you a prescription for any mouth pain after your surgery.

hi,how are you doing,I had four theet pulled out of my mouth ,they were pulled out in half an hour by a standard dentist,it did not hurt a bit...when theet are just extracted it is not really a big deal at all...even when the novacain wore off it did not hurt at all,the only thing that actually hurt was the spots that the novacain was injected in...on the other hand if you are having surgery ,than you might be in for a painfull couple of days...good luck..

I had 4 pulled at once. It didn't bother me in the least. I just made sure I took Tylenol EVERY 5 hours so it didn't have a chance to wear off.
