gone to counseling and if so, what was your reason and did it help you any? I did a couple times and it helped me - real bad fears (after same house struck by lightning twice) and through panic disorder (long over thank goodness). I mean the counseling doesn't get rid of the problems at hand but at the same time helps you cope with what you are dealing with - I truly believe this. I was pretty receptive to it too though. I know of others it helped too.

Hi hun! Yes! I have gone to counseling. I've gone for the past 14 years. I was severely sexually, mentally, verbally and physically abused from the age of 2 to 21. It has taken me 14 years to wade through the sh** that was over my head. Know I am only wading through sh** up to my butt. I have had a lot of issues to resolve, and still have a few more to go. I recommend counseling it has helped me tremendously. I have depression, am bipolar and have d.i.d. disorder and anxiety. I was so bad for 13 years never left my house. I never associated with anyone. Now I can get out and buy groceries and I go to night church. I never thought I'd be able to be around people ever again. My counseler is a Christian and has helped me through crap I could not do on my own. He listens to me, and makes suggestions on things I can do to make things better for me. The right counseler may help you too. Hugs! Von!

I've only been in counseling once or twice. It was at school and I was there because I purposely rubbed off my skin with an eraser and all my teachers though that I had problems. the other time was because I wrote a story about death and murder when I was in 7th grade. I have to admit, counseling didn't help me much, but only because I didn't let the counselor get through to me. I want to go to counseling or therapy now, but I cant seem to tell my parents, and when I did tell them that I needed help, they just said no and ignored me. I think they thought I was joking. Geez, my answer is long, but i just have one more thing to say to whomever posted this question. It's really ironic, but my house got struck by lightning twice, too.

counceling is good for you. you get a person completely unrelated to your problem and they help you get through it.
