how come most LASIK eye doctors use glasses and they won't go through the LASIK procedure?

Since I have worked for many ophthalmologists, the answer I received was they need their glasses to see better for the surgeries. I know-doesn't make sense-but that is exactly how it was put to me. This one particular doctor finally had LASIK and now is glasses free.
