Original sin is when the first human beings disobeyed the commandment of God, choosing to follow their own will rather than God's will.

As a consequence they lost the grace of original holiness, and became subject to the law of death; sin became universally present in the world.

Besides the personal sin of Adam and Eve, original sin describes the fallen state of human nature which affects every person born into the world, and from which Christ, the "new Adam," came to redeem us.

With love in Christ.

Original sin may be taken to mean: (1) the sin that Adam committed; (2) a consequence of this first sin, the hereditary stain with which we are born on account of our origin or descent from Adam.

From the earliest times the latter sense of the word was more common, as may be seen by St. Augustine's statement: "the deliberate sin of the first man is the cause of original sin" (De nupt. et concup., II, xxvi, 43). It is the hereditary stain that is dealt with here. As to the sin of Adam we have not to examine the circumstances in which it was committed nor make the exegesis of the third chapter of Genesis.

theory it was the sin of the flesh they knew when they ate from the tree of knowledge .. sex was the original sin..the snake symbol is a phallic symbol. This theory says women were to have children by God ..reason Mary was a virgin and she did not concieve Christ with the original sin.

God curses them ..he tells her Christ will come through the seed of the woman not the man. The original curse God puts on the woman was in childbearing..in pain you will now bring forth your children..in the beginning they were not in the flesh body they were in eden the paradise of God and had spiritual bodies not made of flesh and blood....as it says after the fall..God made them skins of animals for their covering..meaning a flesh body as God was no longer their covering. In the end of the bible is the return to Eden..no death no sickness..no pain sorrow etc..we are given new bodies like the original had..not of the flesh...as that was the cause of the original sin.

Original sin is *disobedience*. Eve knew from Adam not to eat of a particular tree. She was lied to and believed. In eating from the tree, she broke God's law and ended mankinds eternal life until Jesus bought the opportunity back with his death.

because secretly, mary had an affair - but didn't tell anyone. so when she had the baby, everyone thought she was a virgin, but she was lying (thats why lying is a sin, too) and then killed the person she had the affair with (that's why killing is a sin, too)

so then when everyone found out - it was the ORIGINAL sin that whoever it was died for "our sins"

Wouldn't eating be considered the origanal sin because Eve ate that apple?

No, not really. It's temptation. Temptation is the origanal sin.
