I just bought the sims 2 and I bought The Sims 2 University expansion pack along with it. I downloaded the sims 2 fine, but when I tried to download the university one, it said that I should backup the sims 2 game files. What does this mean, and how do I do it? It says they recommend compressing the files using a file compression utility or burning them to a cd. I can't burn cds, so how do I compress them? Pleeease help me!!

If you haven't played the game yet, then don't worry about backing it up. Sounds like you just bought the disks.

I'm assuming you have the disks and the CD Keys for them. So here we go if you have started playing and you need to backup your game.

Find the folder called "The Sims 2"
The location will be at:
My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2

This folder has all your games played so far in it and your downloads if any.

Save a copy of the folder (left-click and drag, to be sure it's not a shortcut) onto your desktop or on your hard drive where you have room. It will take a few minutes to put your files in the backup location. (shortcut takes split seconds, that's not what you want) Remember where it is and it will be handy if you need it.
