Actually the green/yellow snot are clumps of lymphocytes and virus infected your respiratory system. When your body got invade by the cold virus, your own body produce antibody. This antibody will bind to the virus prompting the germ killer cell (lymphocytes) to devour the virus. The lymphocytes died in the process thus producing yellow/green looking snot. It is actually a pus, just like pus in your wound.

yes, just like others said...it's a sign of a sinus infection IF your blowing green and yellow constantly throughout the day, in the morning your snot may be green and yellow but thats cuz its been sitting in there all night, or if your not blowing your nose a lot... if its not like that all the time then its probably not an infection. Usually you have a sinus headache if you have an infection or if your eyes are puffy like you've been crying,or if the outer sides of your nose hurt.

I guess I'll go with they rest and say an infection. No, I change my mind. I think a cold is green or yellow and allergies/sinuses is clear.

That's the infection in your sinuses.
You want to get rid of that as soon as possible and get it back to being clear again. Use saline flushes to try and clear your sinuses out.
If it persists more than a week get yourself to the doc for a round of antibiotics.
