I would probably get it installed just because its dealer installed. Care free, quality sound. its a fair package for $500. But it is also very easy to simply install a set of speakers of your own.
You can put down $300 on the BEST speakers available and they would sound equally if not 10x better. Either way, you shouldnt be disappointed.

For 550 I would get the option.
1. it is not the dealer that is charging for the sound system it is the manufacturer.
2. How can u go wrong spending $550 for a Harmon Kardon system.
3. If all else go to the dealer and listen to the system.
4. There are quite a few stock systems that sound good for under $100,000 cars. Bose, Infinity, Mark Lev, Harmon Kardon, just to name a few.

Personally, i will NEVER EVER buy a premium audio system from a dealer. they overcharge to insanity for very very very very mediocre at best parts. For those 550 dollars you could have a pretty nice alpine Headunit, 4 (or 6, depending on the car) Boston speakers, and maybe a small sub and have it sound infinately better than anything offered in any car under 100,000 dollars. Stock car audio equiptment is just horrid.
