Read A Prayer For Owen Meany if you haven't already.
You are a Christian. What proof do you have that Christ "has risen"? I think Pascal couldn't have been more right.
My personal beliefs are based on what gets me throught the day.
I like being independant, so I don't like believing I need a religion to rule my life. Religion shouldn't be the force that makes you a good person. I have faith in humanity, regardless of how little faith they deserve. I believe in everything happening for a reason, but stuff happens all the time that no good comes out of. I don't think truth is that important when it comes to faith. Faith, for me, is what gets me through the trials of life. Whether its Jesus Christ that leads you through life, or you do it yourself, the point is, you still get through it, and that's what matters.

AGREE AGREE I also am a born-again Christian who relies on faith in my everyday life. Faith, in my life is very important and has giving me the strength I have needed to survive the foils and pitfalls of the human experience. If other people want to consider this to be stupid, or antiquated; that is fine. I have to live my life for me in the best way that I can and my faith is included in this. I do not, however; go around trying to force my beliefs down any ones throat. I gladly discuss my beliefs with anyone who would like to do so, and have had several people who have been more respectful of my beliefs after one of these discussions. I try to live a good life, and let my Beliefs shine through my actions. I do believe that there is lots of room in the world for different beliefs. I do not think, however; that anyone in the world is helping any of us to live and grow by cutting down individual beliefs. Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could all be more willing to be more accepting of each other? I don't know if it will happen in my life time, but it is nice to think so. You have a great night, and may God Bless you.

I agree in what pascal said, that believe in things with the basis of proof. Christianity has a basis and you know that. Don't confuse yourself with faith, it is basis on proof too. You can't believe something you don't have an experience with or an encounter, right? Faith is believing on something you don't have yet but you know there is someone who is powerful enough to give it to you. So, you believe in that person and not the event coming. Your not stupid your just confused and don't let that continue, ok. God loves you. Hope I helped you.

Agree. Religion is totally subjective, not truth, its "faith" based on what people WISH were true. Whenever someone tells me they are praying or asks for people to pray for them or others, I just think of it as "wishing". A prayer is nothing more than a conscious wish.
On the other hand, real truth is not subjective taste, as stated, it is objective fact. This is the sort of thing logic, reason, and science can lead you toward.
oh and you are stupid (sorry, you asked for it)

i tend to think what most people think they believe they dont actually beleive but they dont know that until something huge makes them realize what they truly believe about mortality. this is the most basic form of belief i might add. sometimes when a family member dies the person has an apifany and realizes that their religion isnt really true. other times they hide behind their religion and continue to lie to themselves until someone puts a gun to their heads and even then some people are so adament about what they thinkt hey believe that they continue to pretend that they think god will save them.but if they really and truly beleived that...they wouldnt be scared. ever. a truly 100% faithful catholic would never fear anything because she or he would awlays know god has a plan

Disagree. A lot of people believe what they believe because they were taught to believe it - evidence and truth is irrelevant. I think it has little to do with subjectivity or objectivity. Most people, I have noticed, are not objective when it comes to their perspective of life, and that is unfortunate for if we all could see things objectively, there would be a lot more agreement and a lot less fighting - it seems to me.

I would agree that "most"people today arrive at their "religion" based upon what they find attractive, comfortable and convenient.
Biblical Chritianity is none of those things and MY "faith" is based upon what I have seen and heard.
I don't know WHAT you are talking about!
Rom 10:17 So faith comes from what is heard, and what is heard comes through the message about Christ.

yep, truth is the "objective matter of fact"...that is precisely what is "wrong" with religion. so much of people's "truths" are based on what is attractive. It is their perception of the truth that has created so many factions or variety of religions.....as a Christian you know that God is more interested in our hearts than which church we attend. And faith is nothing more than the size of a mustard seed which can move mountains. I know, because my mountain has moved!!

I agree, I converted to non-religion from christianity because I hate the thought that there is some God up there with infinite power while we suffer down here on Earth.

50% definently Hindus and Budist are 100% wrong. People that believe in God are some what right. Christians that follow their religion well are on the best path.
