1) You DON'T NEED to drink 8 glasses of water a day. You certainly don't need 1/2 your body weight (in oz.) per day. You don't need ANY arbitrary target amount per day. That whole idea has been debunked. IT'S JUST NOT TRUE!
Drink when you're thirsty. Period!

2) Caffeine is NOT a powerful diuretic. Coffee, cola, and other caffeinated beverages have been shown to hydrate JUST AS WELL as plain old water. Same for juices. The sugars do NOT make a difference.
Don't listen to myths, folklore, and old wives' tales. The science says otherwise.

Orange juice is not the best idea,too much of it can cause acid reflex. Other liquids like some juices contain sugar which isn't as good as real water. Stick with the real thing but its ok to substitue a few glasses hear and there.

Just about any liquid can add up to the eight glasses or cups of water a day, which would include juices, other soft drinks, soups, and even some foods that have a high water content, like watermelon, for example. Steer clear of alcoholic beverages, tea and coffee, though, as these are diuretics and will leave the system through the kidneys almost as fast as they are ingested. Some people don't care for plain water, so you can add ice, slices of lemon, or buy bottled water that has just a touch of flavoring to it.

8 cups of water not means you need to take 8 cups of the water per day. You can get enought of water from the food that you take like fruits or others food that contain water. Of-course you can substitute orange juice or other fruit juices instead of plain water. but becareful of the daily sugar intake.

Most any liquids will count toward the 6-8 glasses of water recommended, just as long as they aren't alcohol or caffeine. OJ is very high in calories however so you if you want to watch your weight that would be an awful lot of juice in one day. Also the vitamin C in that much OJ could cause digestive problems such as diarrhea

No. OJ or any other fruit juice has too much sugar in it. You can substitute other liquids for water as long as it has no sugar, caffeine or artificial sweetener. Water is best though. Try some of the new flavoured waters available or add real lemon or lime juice for a dash or flavour.

wow, that much orange juice would not be kind to you. water is definitely the best. if you choose another liquid, stick to non-caffienated bevs with little or no sugar... our bodies need that kind of hydration for sustained health. (helps rid it of impurities and SO much more!!) truly it's a good idea to adapt to the water lifestyle, i'm middle aged and have done so recently- last coupla- years- and have noticed the benefits. p.s. restrooms need to be convenient, what do go in do come out. try it for a couple weeks and see how you feel about it. best of luck!!

orange juice has lots of sugar. One cup may even have 40 grams of sugar. I have heard that daily limit of sugar should not exceed 30 g per day. Of course natural sugar found in apples, oranges, is not harmful at all if you consume it too much. But usually orange juice in cartons have added sacharoza, which is bad sugar, so you can't drink that juice too much

Too much acid and sugar in Orange juice for that many drinks a day, it wouldn't replace your entire water requirement but would suppliment one or two glasses worth.
