Its easy with a bridal shower - the maid of honor is in charge of planning everything. But who's supposed to plan a baby shower? My sister is pregnant, and I don't know if this is something that I'M supposed to be doing!

There's no one person who is "supposed" to organize the shower. Many times expecting mothers will have several showers. The mother's family might give one, the father's family, a church, friends, etc.

You can do it, but you don't have to. Talk with her close friends and see what they think - you can always do a "group" baby shower. My baby shower was given to me by my friends at work. Another friend of mine had her baby shower given by her mother in law and mother.

You can make it very easy - send out invitations, go to a local restaurant and reserve some tables and have fun!!! Don't worry so much about "games" or things like that unless you want to - most of the time, the mother is very happy with just having her friends together and having a good time.

It's traditional for either the sister or the best friend to arrange a baby shower. They are usually no longer a suprise - as everyone's lives in modern day America are always busy.

However, if you don't wish to host a baby shower, you certainly don't have to. But if you do want to, don't feel bad to call in recruits - any kind of party can be a lot of work.

You don't have to rent a hall, if you have a house that can provide ample space. We usually have our showers/parties in our backyard, this saves us tons of money that we can spend elsewhere.

Formal etiquette says that someone who's not a relative must throw the shower to avoid having it look as though the family is asking for presents. I personally don't agree and threw both of my sisters showers.

If you and your sister are close, or live close to each other - that would be a nice thing to do. If your sister has a close friend, they may want to do the planning or help you too.

mother to be, aunt to be, or grandma to be. for my baby sister (she was born when i was 12) i planned it. that's just the type of person i am, so i wanted to. make sure it is fun, but not to active, being that it should be close to the due date of the mother to be. if i were you, i would plan it with my mom, but have my sis supervise.
