Well --
It sounds like you're trying to stand out, and be original. It's a brave move, I'll admit. I found a few photos for you -- so my advice would follow after you've seen some examples.

Feasted your eyes? ^_^ Alright -- so goes the preaching. When making any dramatic change to your appearance, you MUST have the confidence to back it up. Notice the people in these pictures are looking at the camera -- they're not shy, they're not afraid of what others think. This change will be LASTING -- and to dye your hair for one night doesn't sound wise. Be prepared to get some funny looks, especially from those who aren't happy with the whole 'emo' trend going on.
Be an individual through your personality, and your desired look should be easy to pull off. Best of luck! =)

Long Black hair with little short bangs (look up Bettie Page) is totally hot! Then do the red underneath, that should look cool. Make sure the red is nice and bright - if your hair is dark you will have to 'strip' it before you dye it red. Have fun!

Red is one of the hardest colours to take care of because it fades easily. I wouldn't go black, but a dark brown level 02 would be perfect with a shade of purple/brown underneath. Black is a hard colour to take out if you wanted to strip the colour off your hair. I think you should cut your hair a little above your shoulders with lots of layers and sideswoop bangs and flip it out using pomade to style. I'm sure I know what kind of style you like since you like My Chemical Romance but I think this hairstyle will suit you the best.

i think it sounds cool, dont need to cut it just put hair in pony tail and take bottom layer to dye. i know a person with blonde with dark blue underneath like that and about the same length and it is cool. but black and red (crimson?) sounds way cool.

those other answers are BLAH, i think it wud be totally awesome!!!! I wish I had thot of that! I have DARK brown hair with a HUGE hott pink streak in it. Definatly layer it first, it gives a much better effect. My friend Kayce, her hair is red(natural red) with black underneath, i love it. I think its an awesome idea. I think that sounds really neat, I would ask the hairstylist about the layers though cause i can't see your hair, some people don't look good with too many layers, I can't have more that 2 because my hair is so baby fine.

i did that a while back and i loved it. I have really short hair in the back and longer hair in the front. I did the front dark red and the back black. Right know i have the red int he front still and the back is a really really light blonde. I work at a hotel and my manager loves my hair. So i say go for it.

Depending on your age and style, it would look kewl.
But, it you do so, give the top long layers so that the red will be highlighted and not over-powered by the black.
Wear it up sometimes as well.

I wouldn't dye it black. because it's a ***** and nearly impossible to dye over. and if you use color stripper to get the black out it will ruin your hair and come on in clumps. I think dyeing it brown with pink under it would look amazing.
Good luck, dear!
