I'm wanting to, but when i get a fence up in my yard next spring, so the dog can run around and not be cooped up in my house. i adopted a 3 legged 1 eared cat from a shelter several years ago. people do go adopt animals. and i got laughed at for spending money on her because shes considered "broken" to others, but shes my angel and i wouldn't trade her for anything. shes the only cat i know that fetches and will come hop in my lap when i whistle. haha shes so funny. the best pets are adopted.

Very good question. Not to give a sorry excuse, but I would love to - if I had the room. I live in a small apartment and have 3 Labs already. But when my wife and I get a bigger place we plan on adopting & fostering as many as possible. I also use to work in a shelter, And I seen the over loaded conditions.

Well, speaking for myself, I already have 2 dogs and a kid and our house really cannot fit more animals, but believe me if I had the room I would love to foster a dog. I think a big reason is that when people are deciding on a dog to get, they go for the puppies. I think alot of people see shelter dogs as being mistreated and hard to handle. However, my husband's sister and her husband AND his parents both adopted shelter dogs and both dogs are extremely adorable, well behaved, and were already housebroken ! So sometimes it's the best idea!

I would love to foster a dog or cat, but I work 12 hour shifts. Not a good situation for a dog who probably has some "issues" whether it be with trust, socialization or potty training.
As for a cat - I have a family of 5 purr balls of my own - bringing in a newbie would upset the relative calm that exists.
But, I agree with you - there are WAY too many innocent homeless pets. Just another point about the need to spay and neuter our pets.

I think they feel that when they foster, they will be too upset when they have to give the dog to its news owner. My fiance and I cried when we gave up our first foster greyhound up.
It's also hard to foster if you don't have a lot of time. One problem that I have had is that the foster dogs often gave my own greyhound worms. We eventually stopped fostering for the time being because of that - I love greyhounds in general, but I can't allow that to affect my dogs' quality of living.

If I had the space I would foster cats and dogs! I think alot of people don't realize they can foster pets. So many people are working couples that they can't take in animals. There are lots of reasons why people can't.. it's so sad why more people don't do it though.

Well the reason my family has fostered so many animals is because we love animals. So all times we have foster them so they don't get put down..We even have the shelter call us when they get more animals they think we would adopt. So u really should do it.

I do not foster dogs myself as I breed and show dogs (shelties) and have my hands full with them. BUT (before people get upset) I DO support sheltie rescue with money donations, items for the dogs, and I am even making a hand made quilt (in honor of my litter of puppies that was born in march) for them to auction/raffle off to make money. I do support their efforts but just cannot put in the time that the dogs need and deserve.

I can't foster. I get too attatched sPecially to dogs. And I can only have one where I live and besides they are too expensive to have more than one dog. I'm not mean just trying to be practical, We akk jbow the costs involved vaccinations clippings worming the cost mounts. a small price for one but more than one would be too much for me but GOD BLESS ALL THAT CAN AND DO FOSTER

I have done this before and it was a lot of fun, but also hearbreaking. We cared for some kittens and a few died. We had 2 puppies and it was so hard to let them go. I have 3 dogs now so, there is just no way I could do it again, otherwise I would.
