I am a 27yr old man. I am a christian. I don't boast with arrogance about my christianity, but I do love Jesus Christ. I love what the man stands for. Jesus Christ to me is the absolution of peace, love and forgiveness. I do believe that he did die on the cross for my sins despite what modern belief if attempting to contradict. What do I need to do to serve my Lord more accordingly? I have been a lazy representative in Christ the last few months and I could use some words of inspiration. I really want to walk hand and hand with him and serve him more accordingly. I do want to be the vessel for the Lord. I am not here for me. I am here for Gods will I believe.

You have a good goal here and I honestly wish you the best in this...

BUT I gotta say that I think your first stop might be to pray about what you spend your time thinking about. You need to clean up your mind! Why do I say this? Look at just some of the crude questions you've been posting: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Aj4I9vMYJ2bZnxN_GA71cHLsy6IX?qid=20060801062543AAi0pGv

Seems to be a BIG dissonance between your persona in this post VS that of your other posts. In any case, I believe that Christ, by His power and grace, wants to help you close the 'gaps' b/w who you are now and who you can be.

Just my two cents.

I know how you feel man... I've been there....

Well there are alot of things that you can do... first off... spend time with God... pray... and read the Bible, so that you can grow in the Lord, if you don't read the Bible, you starve your soul... and you become open to false things... the Bible is Truth... And don't just read the word and forget... you have to obey it as well...

Here is another: worship God, sing, dance, or listen to music... do everything that you do for Him... this includes cutting the grass, or any daily activities... Do your best for God....

Here is something important, Do Not base you relationship with Jesus only on feelings.... your feelings can decieve you... for instance you can feel alone... but the Bible says, God will never leave you nor forsake you...

I have made that mistake and I'm sorry for it...

But when you obey God and do what is pleasing to Him... you will be blessed... and you will recieve the fullness of joy that only Jesus can give...

Don't get me wrong feelings are not bad... But you should let your feelings follow your faith...and not faith follow your feelings...

If you want to do God's will be faithfull with what He has given you... the small stuff... and you will recieve more things talents and responsibilities...

Remember these things are often difficult to do...

But you cannot earn God's love or grace or forgiveness...

"For it is by grace that you have been saved, through faith, and this is not from yourselves- it is the gift of God, not by works so that no one can boast."- Ephesians 2:8-9, the Bible....

It is a Gift, all you have to do is recieve it...

Relationship with the Lord is alot like life... ups and downs... but hang in there, Jesus is always with you...

I am praying for you, may God bless you and your family...

your brother in Christ... splinterjah

Ur question is full of passion in itself the best thing about it is it shows that you have a hunger and a desire to have a deeper relationship with Christ. The good news is that he can see it within you. There's nothing we can ever do to repay Christ for what he did for us at the cross neither does he want us to because his love is great. As long as you epitomise Christ by looking at things the way he would e.g forgiving those who are difficult or bringing lost souls to Christ, then you are well on your way there. God bless:-)

Do you serve others? Do you share your faith with everyone you see? Well, some of the people you see? As long as there is fruit in your life, keep doing it and then some. Keep contending. I was just thinking today if someone were to ask me what I do for the lord, I would reply, "not enough". No matter what, that should be our response. Not enough. He died, so I could get something better than I deserve. How do you repay that?!?!

It sounds like you could benefit a lot about reading 'The Purpose Driven Life.' There, it gives a 40-day devotional on why God created us, and what we are here for. It sounds like you want to know what to do for God, that would help a lot.

To get closer, just keep reading the Bible, praying, and going to church, that will get you closer. Also, the church probably has opportunities for you to serve, if that is what you are really looking for.

Hope that helps!

I hear ya, because I feel the same way about myself. I go to church and pray and read the Bible, etc. But I don't feel like I go far enough. Personally, my plan is to be more of a servant to my fellow man. I think that's one of the things he wants us to do most, just as he washed the feet of his disciples. He wants us to be the light of Christ to each other, whether it's by running errands for a friend who is sick, or being there for someone in times of sadness, or working in a soup kitchen....any of those things would be a wonderful extension of your faith.

The modern day has many services that Christ has and to which there is a dearth of people. The main difference between Christ and the other Gods that people have for themselves is this: "Come near to God and he will come near to you." James 4:8a(NIV)
God has given you this desire. You want to do something for God. It will be found better to find out exactly what God has for you. This is because he has a very special purpose for each of our lives. If we do not fit into the puzzle, it does not matter, He will bring you to do what you have to do through gentle guidance. Let it not be thought that only after knowing Gods will, some work for God will be attempted.
For a car to turn, it needs a steering, but this arrangement is useless unless the car is moving. So also we cannot say God steer me, direct me unless we take some initiation. God will look fter the other things;
I remember a prayer of dedication that goes something like this:
"Christ has many offices; some are difficult while some are easy
Some may bring glory and others to shame; some grief while others joy...." It ends with an invokation to God requesting that the office handed to us will be brought to completion.

How can one know Gods will?
God speaks in many ways. Primarily, meditate on the word of God. This will help you understand the mind of God. There are also other ways God speaks. Through vision and dreams, through other of his servants.
However, we do not have to really go to others for knowing our future. God has given us His spirit to discern good from evil and to know His mind. The Holy Spirit will guide us into all truth. (John 14: 25,26; John 16:13)

How does one receive the holy Spirit?
The Holy Spirit is a gift given to all who believe in God. It is the simplest thing.
"Ask and it will be given to you;" (Matthew 7:7a)
Jesus says that God is the giver of all good gifts. "Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? or if he asks for a fish will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your childre, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!" (Matthew 7: 9-11)

You may not have the outward manifestation as tounges, prophecies, healing etc. This is because they are gifts and God gives each christian according to what He has for the individual. Please find in I Cor 12:8-11 the various gifts.

This may be likened to the parable of the ten talents found in Matthew 25 14-30. God has given us all atleast one talent. We can take it as gift. It can be healing hurts, healing guilty feeling, comforting the people in pain, praying and so on. If we dig a pit and bury it, God is certainly not going to be very impressed. When we use our talents, God gives us more and more.

As Jesus says, every tree is known by the fruit it bears. If we are trees in God vineyard, grafted to him (Rom 11:11-24), and we are watered by the Holy Spirit (a bit of figurative speaking), then the tree will bear fruits of the Holy Spirit as the Holy Spirit is inside the tree. These fruits are: Love, Joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. (Gal 5:22,23)
When we have the fruit of the spirit manifested in us more and more, we can be certain that God is working in us.

DO NOT GET DISCOURAGED:
The devil will remind you of your past, remind him of his future because of what Jesus did. Use the name of Jesus when faced with temptations. The devil has no hold. When I did not do so, I always failed.
You will have noticed that you sin when you don't have self control. This is very true especially when you are tired or depressed. Do not have an empty mind. The devil can easily take control. Meditate instead on Gods word
This is taken from much of my personal experience and I hope that You find it useful.

Pray all of that to the Lord. He will show you how. Prayer is so powerful, yet we forget that it is our strongest link to him while we are on this earth. Pray that he would show you his will.

Also re-read the new testament, start with Matthew. I find it inspirational to read Christ's words and redirect my focus on the Lord.

God bless you.

Well that is a good statement of faith and if you really want to take the next step. Just DO it. Read more, Pray more and Go were he takes you. Feel free to share (and not just in this "anonymous" place). Take a class in evangelism perhaps. (if your church doesn't have one then find one online)

It must be a trend. :) I'm 24 and I've been a bit slack in the past couple of years and I have been looking for ways to get "back in the fight." My only advice: Just meet a need.... help people. :) Good Luck!
