Consider going to school before reaching out to help. Child psych/ and sociology as well as earning a degree will help you in your search to do something. You'll be in the field and will be earning a living. You could go the social worker route or even become a lawyer to advocate for children. Teacher's are sometimes the only person a child will go to and tell what is happening to them. If none of the above appeals to you, you could always become a foster parent but you need to be able to provide a loving stable home. God Bless.

Contact your local social services. There are alot of children in the system that need help. You could be a big brother or sister to a child who was abused or a foster parent, depending on your age. You could check with your local schools to see if they need volunteers to read to children or maybe a child needs a mentor. I used to be a foster parent, there are alot of abused children out there who could use a friend or mentor, someone they can call or talk to when things get stressful for them.

You may need a degree to do what you want to do, if it's caseworker...otherwise, check with your state employment office for openings with Child Protective Services. Another good way to get your foot in the door is to volunteer at CPS first, get your feet wet and make some contacts who can help you get a paying position there.

Get a degree in sociology. You can't do volunteer work like Big Brothers/big Sisters, because the kids freak out easily over ordinary things.

Try getting a job at an orphanage for awhile, there are many kids who have been abused and need someone to love and trust there.

If you don't have any formal training you can start with your local shelters and call the child protective service in your state and ask them this question. Also you can call a college and ask to speak with a counselor.

Call the county Health department, family services, etc. You must have a NON record as far as any kind of crime is concerned. Good luck...you are biting off a lot, I hope you can chew it.

You need to study child development and social worker courses, and if you want to be an advocate, you need to get a criminal justice degree.
