yes you can. just a teaspoon though, based on weight. our dog is 40 lb, and can have a tsp. you're dog will take it better if you dunk a cookie in it...its hard to get them to take it unless of course you have an eye dropper to fill. if you do, squirt in the side of their mouth..stroke their throat or blow on it's nose to get it to swallow it. good luck!

can you give your dog pepto bismol for an upset stomach?

I safely use it all the time, depending on the size of dog. Mine is an airedale (60 lbs). I will give him about 2 tbl spoons, only I make sure he doesnt have any food for the night so the Pepto will dry up the upset and pass it effectively.

yes you can, our bichonpoo had a very bad diarrhea for almost a week, after all her shots she was down with diarrhea two days after, it was like water every two hours we have to take her out, I search the internet and after 3 days with loose bowels we started giving her canned pumpkin which you can buy from pet store and boiled squash, it improved a bit but her tummy is as hard as stone, then finally I give her 5 ml of pepto that she hates so much, by the way she is only 12 pounds, the next day I decided to give her a tablet of pepto, then I boiled white rice and chicken (nothing on it), what you do with rice you boil with lots of water in it just like congee then when the rice is cooked that is what you feed the dog and the white chicken with a tablespoon of pumpkin, continue that for 2 days and voila!!! she is back to normal plus a soft tummy........

People want to medicate their pets at home because they "think" they know what is wrong with their pet and often only delay proper treatment.

Nausea can be caused by eating foreign material, liver or kidney disease, pancreatic inflammation, cancer, and a couple hundred other diseases. None of which will be helped by pepto - and in some cases will be harmful to your pet. Without going to the vet for professional health care you are likely to harm your pet.

By the way, if your vet gives you a dosage of human medication for your pet WITHOUT evaluating the pet in person - find a new (responsible) veterinarian.
