And I thought it was odd when pet psychiatrist came into vogue. Imagine, you have a insights re: animal nature and insights re: humans. You spend an hour playing with Rover and then talk to the human a few minutes . . . is Rover going to say you goofed off during the session or even discuss what you did? (I know there are some really good pet psychiatrist out there though . . . but you have to admit it does conjure up funny images of someone with too much money on their hands.)

And now I am going to get acupuncture for my cat? Why don't you do a search for acupressure on animals . . . perhaps you can spare them the needle sticks. Acupressure works on humans so why not cats?

Hi there!!

I would search on yahoo.com for acupuncturists in your area. Sometimes acupuncturists work on animals as well as humans. I actually have a friend that is an acupuncturist and does work on animals as well, just as a side job. Even if the location you call does not have any acupuncturists that work on animals, they may be able to refer you to one that does. You can also try a cat specialist. These trained veterinarians specialize only in felines and feline treatment. Some facilites have veterinary technicians that also perform other tasks (such as herbalist remedies, acupuncture, massage therapy). And again, if they do not personally offer acupuncture to their patients, they might be able to refer you to a veterinary facility that does. Hope this helps!! :)

My homeopathic vet is also an animal acupuncturist. A holistic vet I also use has been going to seminars for over a year to get the training.
So I guess you would have to call a lot of vets in your area to find one who does animal acupuncture. I think animal chiropractors are more common.

My vet collaborates with an animal therapist who is trained in acupuncture. Try calling around to local vets.

Please don't listen to the people making inane comments. Your question is a good one. Cats can benifit from acupuncture just like humans can. Your best bet would be to locate a holistic vet. Check out http://www.ahvma.org/ to find one.
