exactly> to an atheist "holy water" is just...H2O. we need faith to believe in Christ and in his sacraments> w/ faith we come to know God...it is the way that shows our loyalty and love for God even w/out proof> faith is how we show god that we truly love him> peace.

Do they have effect with faith might be the broader question here? I think for me, it would just be water.. Have you seen something miraculous come of this water? Or is everything miraculous - you put it on plants in the right dosage and you get food to eat.. thats pretty holy but it seems any water will work.. It must feel good to have faith

Holy water is just another water. God looks at your faith, not at the water.

Water you on about? Is this Ole water Spanish?

Religious objects have no effect even with faith. If they did, no theist would die of cancer or any other disease, accident or "act of god". They'd be reserved for us atheists who have no god to pray to or to look over us.

I'll stick to medicine thanks. It may not be a cure all, but I think I'll go with 21st century science every time over millennia old mumbo jumbo based on an extremely dodgy view of a universe inhabited with super-beings and pre-medieval mythos.

Objects are nothing, with or without faith. Holy water, crucifixes, etc., are not biblical.

water is just water.

Baptism by emersion is a symbol of the faith which has already taken place in the person. It signifies, the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Nowhere in the Bible is christening taught or mentioned. A baby is unable to make a decision whether or not to follow Christ.

Water is intrinsically holy to science and to human existence. Why do you think we spend billions searching for water on other planets. No water, no life, no people.

Water was holy on a cosmic scale long before any human waved his hands over it.

No man can make water holy. It is tap water from the same source that you drink from. City water. The priest is no more holy than you are, and may be not as much so.
You can be pure, and loved by God. He sent Jesus to make it so.

Many symbols such at the Eucharist, holy water and so forth have no meaning with out being touched spiritually by their meaning. To an unbeliever they mean nothing. To some one who has faith, it can mean everything.

An object is simply an object.

Thought, word, and deed are the steps needed to intervene with nature. Anyone can (and does) do it.
