I do know that the steak is "well done" when it feels like the fleshy part of your hand when your hand clenched tight. Tried that, steak still came out wrong. Think I cooked it too long.

I let my gas grill heat to about 400 degrees. Set to medium heat. Put the steak on and flip it every three minutes. After the fourth flip you should be lookin right at "well done".

A well done steak is cooked to long regardless. But if you must, get a thermometer and pull the steak when it reaches around 160*-165*. Its hard to give time because so much depends on variables, size of meat, heat of grill, etc

...Depending upon the thickness, I'll cook at steak for about 5 minutes on ea. side first. Then, I'll cut into the steak to test for doness.

I never time anything, so all I could say is till it isn't pink on the inside when you cut into it.

It really depends how thick the cut is.
