When I first read it I said YES YES

Then I started to think about it and my life and realized that is a fairy tale. It is good to give everyhting...but if you don't get anything back you get so emply that there is nothing left to give.

Some of us who are older (I am 56) have learned that love isn't what we thought it was. I gave more than 100% to my marriage and after years of emotional and verbal abuse I felt like an empty shell of who I used to be. There is fairy tale love and then there is true love where both people give their all, and when things are bad sometimes it is 80% from one and 20% from the other. That would be extreem, if one were sick and the other well.

I believe the main point I want to get across is that giving your all might not be enough if you aren't getting anything in return.

I also believed that love conquered all. That too is a fairy tale.
Love is powerful, but it has its limits becasue we are all human.

Love is when both people give 100% into a relationship, there is no such thing as all give no take. All you do is hurt yourself, and the other person. However, I don't think that you should just not give if the other person isn't giving back. There are times where two people will not give eachother there all. I mean there are times where one will give it all and the other nothing and vice versa, just as long as you both are giving it your all in the end. I might be too young to understand the full concept of love, but from what the Bible tells me, Love is a doing word as much as its a feeling one.

No. I expect to get love in return. Even if I am expected to give everything, I will expect to get love in return.

Real love should be mutual...giving and receiving. If you constantly give and expect nothing...then you will get nothing. And never say 'unconditional' love...unless you are talking to small children or your grandparents.

Love is 50/50. Why should we hand our love to someone when their love will never be returned.
