My cable cord surrounds my entire room and I would like to make it shorter so that I don't have a lot of exposed wires.

Yes, you can cut the coaxel cable. First what you need to do is go to kmart or walmart and buy a package of screw on coaxel connector ends to fix it once you've cut it. When you cut it remove the insulation leave the copper wire bare, then screw the connector on and hook it up to youer tv. Good luck

Yes it is very easy. This requires no special crimps just something to cut the cable and a utility knife. Wire cutters will do in a pinch. Shears are better. First go to a good quality home or electric center. There are 2 sizes of cable. Sat uses bigger cable. So you may want to pick up both then take the wrong size back. What you are looking for are the threaded not crimped connectors. Be sure to ask for these. Once you have the threaded ones go home cut the cable. I prefer to leave it a little long. So in case the cable goes bad you can cut and re-thread the cable. Once the cable is cut put the connector against the freshly cut end of your cable. Take your utility knife and cut the plastic away from the bare wire about a fingers width. Measure the distance or set the connector against the cable. Cut the rubber coating just enough to screw the connector on. You will have to shave the outside fine wires or foil so it screws on tight. Once you have connector on. make sure the bare cable is close to the end of the nut ( piece that screws on to your device.) Connect to the device and test. Depending on the amount of cable you cut off you can make you own jumper cable for another device or if you want to move your device further from your cable outlet.

I don't recommend you to cut the cord. When you attach the connector it won't attach well as in the original, there are chances of poor signal transmission. Company attachment is done with machines.
I have bundled the excess cable with rubberbands, without cutting, in a shopping bag & kept its hidden under the TV trolly. The best thing is that incase you want to increase the cord length in future, you won't need a joint.

It can be cut and a new connector attached but it requires a special tool.

There may be a better way, at Radio Shack, Wal-Mart, Target etc pre-made cables are available in various lengths, usually 3', 6', 12' 20'

One of these may be what you need.

yes u can cut it but you have to have a pair of crimps to put the connector back on tight enough so that it makes a good connection.
