Okay I got it, it was the button thing. The manual said it traps the key when something is wrong and I was so worried I broke her car so thanks soooo much everyone!

There is probably a button under the steering wheel that has to be pressed as you turn the key back the last step

Those have a button next to the ignition switch that must be pressed to take the key out.

Did you turn the car off before trying to remove the key. If not do so. Also try turning the key into the off position before pulling it out. If it is in the acc. position it will not let the key go.

Why? Because its a Dodge. Make sure it is in park, and just trying wiggling it like you are turning on the ignition and then turn it off.

The wheel might be locked in place. That happens in park sometimes.
try moving the steering wheel with some force as you take the key out.....you may have to push in the key and twist it out.

I don't have an answer for you...but just so you...you are not the only one. My girlfriend's 2001 Neon traps the key too...it seems to happen more in the winter for her though.
