Am sure it would be a humiliating experience. Havent had it happen yet ( keeping my fingers crossed), heck I feel humiliated if I get picked to be wanded at the airport. I hate when they tell you to open your arms and lift them like an airplane, and your shoes are off, and your belt is off, and all the security guys just stare.
So I guess, if you are getting "pat down" in public, the "pat down" part is most likely the least of your problems. There must be a bigger major reason, that they had to do that.

Depends on who is doing it and why. If it is part of getting on a plane I have no problem with it. If it is when a cop has pulled me over for driving like an idiot, I deserve it, But if there is no real reason for it then I would feel insulted and violated
Btw most of the cops can not do that unless you say ok.
