Because girls who make the first move are labeled "sluts" and guys do DON'T make the first move are labeled "queers".
It's not fair all around.

Because men are the ones who have lots of millions of useless seeds to pass around. They must be more aggressive to give it away.
Women have but one precious egg to give each month. It is much more valuable in the ratio game. Once a woman is pregnant, she is out of the 'game' as so it were said. She can not be a player for 9 months.
Under these guidelines, men have adapted the more dominate aggressor role.

Its awkward because for years the norm is for the male to approach the female. Its not so awkward nowadays. Sometimes we have to because there are guys who are too shy or guys that are afraid of rejection. I had to make the first move with my boyfriend.

Most little girls are taught not to pursue a man. Once these little girls turn into woman, then they know it is not wrong to pursue the man that they want to be with. Just make sure, if a woman does pursue you that she doesn't forget that she is a LADY.

for some it isn't that hard just most of the time it is the guys who say something or introduce themselves it is just because it is not usual

It's not. it's about the same. Guys just get stuck doing it way more often. Though, I guess, you could say girls get all emotional about it...

because the power seat is the one that is wanted, and if you are the wanting one, you lose the power seat, women usually refuse to give that up, and once they do, they are damned determined to get it back.
