On dates, (especially 1st dates) people are so nervous, and focused on making a good impression and hoping the other person will like them. Some times this makes people play a different role than the role of their true selves. Once the couple warms up to eachother, they willl usually open up and be free to show their inner self.

I guess people are worried that the person won't like them for who they really are. Sometimes you go on a date with someone that you feel comfortable showing your inner self with on the first date. That's usually if you know quite a bit about them before the date though.

They are afraid of rejection, and think that their inner self might not be "good enough"

After how many dates? Clearly on the first few, we're trying lay some groundwork for a friendship. You can't just spill everything too soon. It's overwhelming to be that intimate that quickly.

Everybody puts up a front during the first date. Everyone wants to be accepted/wanted right away.

because they r afraid that the other person will not like the or they r just shy and i kno that that was wat happend to me or also the dont want to hurry in --josh--
