No. Menstuation is when a human female's unused eggs and uterine lining are shed, usually once a month, 2 weeks after ovulation.

A DOG however comes into HEAT twice a year and bleeds for up to 3 weeks. The DOG is bleeding because she's fertile and ready to get pregnant. It is NOT menstruation. Menstruation is what happens to a human female 2 weeks after being fertile and NOT getting pregnant. HEAT is what happens to a dog when they ARE fertile and ready to be impregnated.

Bitches (female canines) have estrus (heat) every 6 months. During this time there is bleeding. Depending on the physical make up of the ***** the bleeding can be heavy or almost nonexistent. If the bleeding is heavy some people use doggy diapers for this and do change them. If the dog is inside the diaper prevents the discharge from getting on carpeting, furniture, etc. Bleeding only occurs for a few days during each cycle. Once a dog is mature the cycle is fairly regular and if kept track of the owner is aware of when estrus is due.
