I dunno, with all the stuff going on today, who cares about celebs! is every channel turning to E! ? I would rather hear about the economy, housing market, iraq developments, Cuba political shakeup etc, how 1 celeb makes so much news is just comical. wish I could filter my tv news somehow

Read about his wacky father and his version of the Roman Catholic Church.

Gibson and his family, including his son Mel, have been alleged to be members of the Catholic Traditionalist Church of the Holy Family in Malibu, a private church belonging to an independent Catholic community; the church building has been funded by Mel Gibson.

Hutton Gibson, with many Traditionalists, alleges that the Second Vatican Council was a secret anti-Christian plot by both Masons and Jews. More unusually, Gibson also holds to other theories, such as his claim that the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks were not carried out by mostly Saudi Arabian Muslims aboard the plane, but rather were carried out by "remote control" by Zionists.

Hutton Gibson with Holocaust denier Fredrick Töben, head of the Adelaide Institute, at the 2003 International Conference on Authentic History, Real News and the First AmendmentGibson denies commonly accepted aspects of the Jewish Holocaust, claiming that it is impossible for the Holocaust to have happened as described, since in his view, there would be no way to get rid of so many bodies. He claims that "There weren't even that many Jews in all of Europe", that the six million who disappeared from Poland "got up and left", and says that there were more Jews in Europe after World War II, statements disputed by mainstream historians. In support of his father, Mel Gibson claims that his father's beliefs do not amount to Holocaust denial. (Mel Gibson also says that he will not speak out publicly against his father.)

Hutton Gibson also publishes a quarterly newsletter propagating his views under the name The War is Now!

Not totally the media's fault - its our fault. This, unfortunately, is what the people want. FOX wouldnt have it on if it didnt "sell papers" so to speak...

With that said, I can say that the attention paid to celebrities is simply ridiculous - but thats what this country is all about. For some reason, it makes more sens eto have a celebrity on your side than to have an educated person... And Mel Gibson has been on the Catholic side for a very long time. And he has some serious issues - this isnt the first time he has spouted off at the mouth. He may have beenn drunk this time, but he wasnt drunk when he spoke hatefully of gays and lesbians, he wasnt drunk when he said that he wanted a film critic's "Intestines on a stick - I want him DEAD! I want his dog dead." Yes, Gibson said that!!!! All the while pretending to be a pious little catholic. HYPOCRITE!

Well, it's sort of like the other shoe dropping. First he makes a wildly popular movie relying heavily on the imaginings of a medeival mystic who blamed a lot on the Jews. But he publicly said he had nothing against the Jews. A lot of people suspected otherwise. Now the truth is out and he drunkenly shouted at a cop his feelings. His tirade confirmed what a lot of people suspected all along.
Plus it's amusing to see how often people claiming that faith turned their lives around haven't really turned their lives around, they've just made very public displays of piety while remaining the same.

To answer your question all you have to do is look at how low the media has sunk in this country chasing the almighty dollar. Its show biz now and Gibson is a celebrity. They love to tear down people as long as its not one of theirs.

The news media has always been a little insane. No good Christians around to protect Mel's privacy.

the media thinks anything happening to a celebrity, whether or not it's minor, is more important than sh** happening to an everyday person. i could really care less about mel gibson, he's a person and so am i. i don't think he's any better than me, no matter how much money he has. actually i think i'm better than him because i don't make racist remarks and call the cops sugartits.

Mel Gibson went public with his belief in Jesus Christ. Now he has done something that goes contrary to those beliefs, and he is taking grief for it. It should come as no surprise to Mel Gibson or to any of us that when we stand on our faith, our culture will call us to account for any of our words or actions that go counter to that faith. Christians are definitely held to a higher standard, but is that really so inappropriate?

They are sick & can only focus on 1 happening at a time, what is happening in Iraq? I think Iraq is more important than Mr. Gibson, any old time.

Because he is anti-Jewish and also homophobic. He lives under the media spotlight, so he should know better about shooting his mouth off.

At least, the truth about him has finally come out.
