If you can't have someone drop you off and you're going to be parked for more than three days, I highly recommend that you take the very convenient and reasonably-priced Washington Flyer. For $16 roundrip (hold on to that return stub!), you can get on at West Falls Church Metro station. There is free parking (if you can find it...!) at both...or have someone drop you there. This is also a great way to get to Metro...and anywhere the Metro goes...without paying those sky-high taxi rates! It will drop you off right at the terminal (departures) and pick you up at baggage claim (arrivals).

Unfortunately Dulles is very good at keeping a virtual monopoly on airport services, including taxi service. But you can park near Dulles with shuttle service to the airport for as low as $9 a day, $15 for garage parking.

Use the "C" lot - the signs on the way to the airport will guide you - the little shuttle will take you to the airport but they don't run that often - allow 15-20 extra minutes of arrival time....and make sure you write down where you park (or take a picture of the sign with your cell phone camera) - there are acres of cars and it's miserable if you don't remember where you are.
