put the dog bowl in a larger bowl with a little water in the bottom of the bigger bowl. Ants can't swim (or really don't like to if they can). They won't cross the moat to get to the dog food. Trust me. Works every time.

Move the dish, and once the dog is dine, clean up all food and little leftovers on the floor right away. Leave out only water. Spray for ants too-Just make sure the dogs foos in not around.

Put your dogs dish in a larger dish then fill the second dish with water forming a moat ants don't swim you'll have to keep an eye on the water because your dog's going to drink it! this works!

the trick of the larger bowl with a little water works well. i also do that with my drinks at nightmy drink gets put into a small bowl of water

but the other guy had a good point about putting the food away when it is not feeding time.

and everytime you find ants, make sure you clean with soap and water, to remove their salavic trails. (yea, i might've made that word up)

on the other hand, teaching your dog to stomp ants makes for a silly party trick.

Take up the food bowls and spray the surrounding area with otc bug killer-its safe. Then Put down food bowls only when you feed. Take bowls back up as soon as dogs are finished-dont leave dirty bowls out all day. Ants 'forage' constantly, if they find an abundance of food they will return --with help.

Put your dog's food bowl in a tray of water. If ants try to get in they fall in and drown.

putting the dog food bowl in a shallow plate of water does work..last year we had fire ants get into the house and that is what we did.
Problem was solved.

The moat approach works VERY well and best of all, cost effective! Also, there are stands that keep food and water dishes off the ground. They come in various sizes to accommodate you dog's height. If you want to see what these look like, follow this link...

What i did was went to store and got a big bottle of [ Bug Stop ] . It works inside and outside. I feed the dogs in side and those little things can get in some how. I just sprayed around the door and along the walls and it stopped them.
