We moved out a few months ago, but they just sent us a bill for $443.00, claiming we damaged the carpet. Other than a few expected stains we kept the apartment in great shape. We had a cat for a few months, but we didn't tell the apartment manager or pay the pet deposit. We gave the cat away, but I scrubbed the carpet with every pet odor, dander, and 'accident' remover I could find. Is there a way for them to physically prove we had the cat, when there is no evidence left of her in the apartment? We had to give her to family, because of allergies.

They could find a stain if the pulled up the carpet. They could also use one of those black lights they use on the CSI shows to show a urine stain. Did the cat pee on the carpet all the time? If not, I think they might be guessing. I would ask them why the bill is so high. I lived in a basement apartment once that flooded during a storm (6 inches of water) and the landlord tried to charge me for ruined carpets!

Your landlord hired me as a PI (pet investigator).

I camped outside your apartment for a few days with a telescopic infrared camera. I captured things on film about your pet that you would not believe it if weren't for my film evidence. Your cat was dealing methamphibians to all the cats in the neighborhood. After a deal went down, there were cats hangin in the trees and chasing laser pointers all over the place. You are busted man.

If the cat urinated on the carpet, a blacklight would show it, no matter what you cleaned it with.
They nay have pulled the carpet and found cat hairs also. You can also ask why the charges are so high. Maybe they will share thet with you.

room with door closed, during our last hurricanne.
(we had to leave slidding glass door open for air!
the cat tried to claw her way out!
she also has clawed the apt.s drapes on the slidding glass door.
