The reason often cited for permitting or tolerating illegal immigration is 'cheap labor'. As illegals demand higher wages, benefits and so forth, will the microwave be augmented 'til it can take over the rest of the kitchen? Will your next ride in a cab be 'robo-taxi'? What does the future hold when the cheapest labor of all is automation? If you're a legal citizen, bonus Q: What's the lowest wage you'd work for? Honestly?

you're right! i think we should all think about this idea REAL HARD. we have gotten used to being able to exchange time for money, and that is not really good enough because if all you do is take up space and perform one function... then why shouldn't you just be a robot? you don't need humans to perform repetitive stupid tasks... that's what autodialers are for.

this is not new. it has always fallen on individuals to make sure that they are competitive in the market they are in. why do you want to hold on to the same stupid job forever? adopt, adapt and improve or get out of the way...

Meet George Jetson. . .

Sorry. I had a momentary lapse. That argument has been made for decades (I site George Orwell's 1984, written in 1948 as a depiction of what the "future" would be like) that it is what is going to happen. I think as long as humans are able to do the job, no one is going to make anything to replace them. Besides, machines are only as perfect as the people making/operating them. We have a long way to go before we need to be concerned about that.

I think YOU are a robot who is commanded by YOUR computer and IT has programmed you to ask a series of questions every 3 days.

The questions all have the same tone and the details all lead back to the first question......thus I am beginning to think you may need to upgrade your computer.

I am hoping when you do........it has a personality and gives one to your robot.
