my six year old year old son goes to sleep in own bed but wakes up in the middle of the night to sleep with me. I would think he be getting out of wanting to sleep with me.

Well he is still young. My son is like that and he is four..he is worse though. He falls asleep with me at night and when my husband gets home he puts him in his bed. He often wakes up in the middle of the night frantic and scared. I try to be supportive and understanding that he is so little and seems to afraid. Maybe when your son wakes up at night reassure him that it's ok (if he needs that) tell him he can lay with you for a minute but then he has to go back to bed. We've started that with my son and most of the time it works pretty well.

Try walking him back to his own bed and laying there with him for a little. Then go back to your own bed. You should slowly shorten the time in which you spend in the childs bed.

It's a borderline age. Maybe when he gets in bed with you - let him stay there for 15 minutes or so and then walk him back to his bed. Sometime it's just reassurance that you're there.

becasue it is so warm in mums bed!
they love it
let him have a quick cuddle... but walk him back to his own bed...
dont carry him though
by him waking to his own bed he will slowly decide on his own that he doesnt like being woken up again to go back to his bed...

get him an extra blanket to keep him a bit warmer at night... that might keep him in hiw own bed
