You're driving, and as you are making any and every turn, the passenger always look both ways with you- in essence double checking your driving? It kinda bothers me and I think it's kind of rude too. Most people just do it out of habit though, I think...

I guarantee you do it when you are a passenger as well. You probably don't notice it though bc it's automatic. Don't let it hurt your feelings that your passenger doesn't trust their very life in your hands with complete trust. It's called human nature.

Well, if I were on the freeway, I would appreciate having someone in the car look back and check to see if a lane is open before getting over. Just the difference in viewing angle between you and a passenger can make the difference of seeing someone in your blind spot. In fact, I thought that was what passengers' duty was - to help you see where you are going. If you are just driving on slow residential streets, I would think it would be a bit annoying to have someone keep checking like you describe, unless there were many obstacles to be aware of, like children playing in the street.

No it does not bother me. This is done from most passengers that also drive themselves. It is not like they are trying to call you a bad driver but like you said it is a habit formed from driving. Next time you are in the passenger seat see if you don't do it yourself. I bet you that you will.

I agree sooo much! It feels like I'm back with my learners permit and my mom is making sure I wont hit anyone. I know they dont mean to, but when I'm in the passenger seat I just completly relax and dont even think about it so I dont know why they have to. It kinda gives the impression they hink you arent a good driver and they have to make sure you have dont misjudge something. Oh well, I have no idea why they do it, but its VERY annoying and distracting.

That assessment to fat human beings is previous, tiresome, and not a real assessment. on an identical time as i do no longer agree together with her physique of recommendations, I understand her frustration. human beings who smoke experience that they have a monopoly on outdoors area in view this is the only place they "can" smoke. regrettably, it confines non-human beings who smoke to the indoors areas the place they can't savor clean air the two way. Even "precise" smoking areas require the smoker to be considerate of the airflow direction. there's a reason that besides to regulations requiring you to step outdoors, they had to characteristic which you stand extra desirable than 15 ft from the door with the aid of fact human beings who smoke are basically addicted, and it makes them very self-absorbed and rude. every person who won't be able to pass to a social adventure for some hours with out slamming their drugs has a intense subject, and that i manage all addicts and different social pariah the comparable whilst they are in my area. i'm uncertain what you anticipate to be distinctive.

That does get annoying. Honestly, if they didn't trust you, why would they even be in the car with you? Whoever is doing that with you needs to be talked to. Try asking why he or she checks as if they don't believe you know what you're doing. Hopefully that person will stop, but there is the possibility that they're completely bored out of their mind and the music just isn't cutting it...

Haha, that's my grandma! Sweet old lady, never did get her driver's licence, but at 93, she a professional shoulder checker. My grandpa drove until he was 98 and he would NEVER turn his neck when driving. He would rely on my grandma sitting in the passenger seat if the lane the lane was clear. Accident free, but annoying as hell, lol.

No, its not rude, even though it serves no purpose when they do that - if your carelss driving gets you killed, it will get them killed too, no one wants to die, they'd rather be rude than die, its human nature and no one can completely trust someone, plus its not all about not trusting your driving and looking out for themselves - Don't complain, they may actually save your life some day - two pairs of eyes are better than one - you may miss something because you're concentrating on your driving.

no, their just trying to help out its natural. its kind of a self preservation thing. whoever is doing it may be doing out of habbit from when they drive. now if they start telling you to make a turn when youre not ready or how to drive, then it becomes rude. but rude ness is also relative so it may be rude to you and not other people. why dont you ask the person if they have a problem with you driving or if they feel unsafe with you. tell them that their looking for you is rude to you. you may find that you not wanting their help is rude to them.

Oh I hate it. My husband does this to me constantly. He has anxiety issues with other people driving. When he is in the passenger seat he looks at everything as if he were driving but has no control. I can't drive with him in the car, it just makes me to nervous.
