On tv the closed captioning option, what do these mean?

What does CC 2 do? or CC 3 or T1,T2,T3? What are they used for? CC is closed captioning and that's used for everything but what are the others for?

cc2 is caption in spanish when available

i guess different station use different type of cc. thus u get so many to choose.
