I just heard it on Lou Dobbs that ICE has been arresting an average of 1,000 illegal aliens a month. Whooo hooo!!!!! It looks like their May day thing blew up in their faces! I think when they degraded the American flag, it really made people upset and they woke up. It's about time!!!!!

Thats great news hon, I am glad that we have law enforcement officials who are willing to actually DO something about the problem of Criminal Trespass that America faces. I do believe that soon, we will have them on the run.

Whooo hooo---I can hardly wait to pay $15 for a head of lettuce and $5 for a tomato. Man, I can hardly wait for the vegetable producers of this country to not be able to hire people for $1 an hour and start paying those who they can find to work $6 an hour and then I can start growing my own. Homeland Security estimated that 302,000 will be convicted and deportable in our local and state jails this year alone, and that only federal prisons regularly deport the illegals in prison at the end of their term.
It would take more than 20 years to deport even this year's worth of convicted illegal aliens at the rate of 1000 a year. And it is not as if those guys are going anywhere.
I'll believe they are serious about enforcement when they at least pick the low hanging fruit.

Is your problem that they crossed illegally? If so would it change your mind if the law they broke was repealed? Think about this. I understand the frustration that some have with them getting on welfare but in my mind the problem is welfare - not the fact that they are here. If the social services they are eligible for in some parts of the country were not there (or were private) would it bother you as much? If not, what is your primary motivation?

It is good news...
However, unfortunately, if they were deporting 1,000 illegals a DAY it would take 33 years to deport 12 million illegals.
The government needs to step it wayyyyy up to make a noticeable difference.

If 3,000 people a month come in, and they arrest 1,000, that's a net gain of 2,000 illegal aliens per month into the country....

gokart121 - thanks for crunching the numbers! Dang - they need to step up the program then, eh? I was actually excited about this question until gocart121 set us straight! Regardless, it is heartening to hear that more and more are being deported, but the numbers need to increase dramatically so that we will begin having a 'net decrease.'
