for the past few days I've been noticing little white specks all over her body. she is all black so the white specks show up very well. could this be dandruff and if so, what should I do? it is such a hassle giving her a bath because she absolutly hates water. is it necessary for me to take her to the vet? I don't know what these white dots are on her. my 5 month old male doesn't have any at all on him. I can't remember the last time I gave her a bath so I don't know if this could occur from not having a bath or not. if you have any suggestions please answer. I brush her regularly too. every other day at least. what are the white specks? their everywhere on her! other than this little issue she is a perfectly healthy, lazy, and fat house cat.

she's an indoor cat so there's no way that it's sheetrock or any other material like that?

it is likely dandroff, and they have dry products that you can put on your cat to help. It could be her diet or maybe the stress with the kitten. If it gets worse or she starts to itch, or starts losing fur contact a vet. You might want to try brushing her with a different kind of brush something that will get her undercoat or that is softer. I would avoid giving her a bath unless you really need to, since I'm sure it would be a bigger pain than it would be worth.

Is it possible that she could be getting into something like sheetrock, or another dusty material?

Dandruff will actually look like tiny skin bits. If it is dandruff, try using tea tree oil on your cat's fur. She will be greasy, but it will wear off and the skin will return to normal.

It could be allergies, yes, cats have allergies. My cats are allergic to dust, pollen, and certain plants. I suggest that you get the cat to a vet. Give the cat a bath and put olive oil on certain parts of the body, make sure the cat does not lick the oil.

My black cats have that, too. It's just dandruff. Try washing her and brushing her more often.
