Since we have so much in the United States, and some people in Mexico are so poor and starved that they are willing to risk the lives of everyone in their family to bring them to a place (USA) where they can potentially have a better life, why don't you think it is our duty as the wealthiest country on Earth to help them out and try to, at least, give them the opportunity to become more successful?

And no one give me that bullshit about how they take advantage of us. We are the one's who exploit the fact that they have no green card so we give them demenial jobs and pay them WAY less than minimum wage. Maybe if we made it easier for them to get legal work, they wouldn't use our welfare system so much because they could get better jobs and earn more money.

jmklk: And when exactly did the US need help from other countries? We are so arrogant that we constantly blow off the UN, and go to war for our own selfish reasons. Can you give me ONE time when we asked for help for a reasonable cause and other countries denied us that help?

When we needed to grow, our doors were open. Now when people are trying to find a country to live in that they will contribute, we close the doors.

What happen to our motto, "Give us your poor, your hungry, etc".

We should let in any good person who wants to come to this country.

The whole issue of illegal immigration is butt stupid. The issue is about the current laws, and the decision to not enforce them instead of changing them. They are illegal because there is no legal way for them to gain entry into this country. That still does not make it right. The laws need to be enforced, but at the same time the laws need to be just. If we really need these people in the US, then give them a way to come here legally. There is no advantage in creating 21st century slavery, by looking the other way as they enter our country. We just create a huge subculture that does not assimilate into the main stream, which is evidenced by Mexican immigrants who have been here 20 years and speak no English, and rely on public services to get medical care and other social services.
The American Dream is pursued by almost every other immigrant culture, Asians moving into Medical and Scientific fields, Africans moving into Education and Business, Russians and Eastern Europeans, etc, they are all assimilating and increasing the quality of their lives by contributing their labor towards the common good. The Mexican immigrant culture is mostly content to "bottom feed" and that is where the issue is. When we allow that to become the majority of our population, we are destined to be just another third world country....

no one give you any bullshit? LOL Ok, since we're cutting the bullshit, let's get the border fence built. Let's get employers in the United States on board with working with the ICE to ensure that NO illegals are eligible for ANY kind of employment in the United States. Let's make sure that cities and states are co-operating fully with the ICE. Border patrol, law enforcement, employer enforcement, no social services, no renting, nothing like that unless you're legally in our country, then move from there.
But, for now, illegal immigration from ANYWHERE, including from Mexico, needs to stop.

We've been sold a sob story for years, and years. It's time to stop buying it, and stop being a captive donor to people that have made it their business to become dependent on us. Whatever happened to Mexico's independence? Or, is that all forgotten now in the face of a big pile of money? Where's the integrity,
the concept of supporting themselves? Why this chronic parasitism?

I would like to see Mexico stand up and be independent again.
This is the 21st century, time to stop just living off the United States. It's also time for us to stop just living off of Mexico, easy cross-border trade has made us spoiled, too. And, people willing to work under the table for nothing has made it too tempting to
tolerate basic corruption.

Mexico can reform, and right now they're talking a lot about how their future is going to go. I fully believe that we'll see a sea change here, as they finally build more schools, better infrastructure, and so forth. I also don't think that having the border in place is a bad idea, because it will tend to focus people ON Mexico, instead of trying to figure out more ways to 'game' the United States.

Over the years, decades even, the United States has given billions, tens of billions, probably HUNDREDS of billions to Mexico, in one form or another. When do we hit the magic number, where Mexico says 'muchas gracias, we've got it from here, thank you compadres'? At this rate, NEVER. But, if instead, a majority of Mexicans stood UP, IN Mexico, and said WE WANT PROGRESS! etc., then that day could come sooner.

We live in the Digital Age. Things that were facts of life 80-100 years ago are no longer restrictions. Heck, things that were facts of life TWENTY years ago are no longer restrictions or barriers! The sky is literally the limit. And, Mexico has HUGE inherent potential. HUGE! And, they've got their own oil. So, you have workers, you've got farmland, you've got energy, now, build roads and schools and hospitals, and housing! You don't need any more money, you need INITIATIVE. NO amount of money concievable will ever be 'enough' without that initiative.
Reform's not hard, it's actually a great thing. Most of the countries, AND companies that have reformed in our lifetimes are now shining successes. And, what do they have in common? They've reformed in the direction of good values, honesty, abolishing crime and graft, seeking the good among the bad, and causing positive results to come about. Efficiency, quality, integrity, these things are important for people, important for companies, important for countries. Without them, you literally have NOTHING. Mexico needs to develop these qualities if the people in their country are to EVER have a solid future. Stop standing there asking for money, and make GOOD things happen!

sure it would be great if our politicians didnt waste our tax money like they do so that our nation could do more good than we are able to, but the fact remains that they have broken that law....and a federal law at that, Americans may get a slap on the wrist for breaking local and state laws but the violation of the laws of our nation require a penalty and that should not be overlooked for any reason.
If you think that our laws are unfair to immigrants then you should start by effecting a change in those laws, rather than commiting a crime yourself and aiding a felon
Also i would like to reitterate the idea that if Mexicans really wanted a better life they could stay and fight for that in thier own country. For that i am sure that the American public would be on thier side. The fact that they do not shows an apathy for thier situation, a disrespect for the hard work of all the LEGAL immigrants and i think that there is enough apathy and disrespect in America

Odd how you come back to the US to solve everything. Maybe if these people just stayed in Mexico and worked to make that a better place, it would become one. But they take the easy way out and cut and run. It's too hard for them to fix their own country, so they come leech of ours.

We already help them. We give Mexico billions in all sorts of aid. And countless companies have moves their operations to Mexico. And we allow open and free trade(NAFTA). Guess it's not good enough unless we spoon feed them like babies....

And the best way to get them off our wellfare system is to deport them. Round them up a gun point and treat them like the ciminal dogs they are. Then we just need to line our border with Landmines.....that will stop them from getting across(and we will even be nice and put of signs that say 'no walko, bombo').

We can't pay to educate and give health care to all of the poor of the world, and a lot of the world is less wealthy than Mexico. It is not our fault their own upper class sees no responsibility to their poor.

We take care of our own, but can't when this MANY poor illegal immigrants come and make us pay for their services and degrade education and health care by their sheer numbers and lack of English fluency.

Our schools are failing. Their better life is at the expense of our children. If you think they should be given money, you give it to them.

They belong in their own country. We cannot support the world. We are who we are because we do what we do but these people mostly are uneducated and depend on us for everything. We still have plenty of people here who ARE americans who need medical and food help from us. My ancestors came over and fought in the american revolutionary war so I am a true american and cannot bare to have so many illegials come over and want what we have had to fight and loose our lives for our country. We cannot help every poor person in this world. Who do you think did these menial jobs before they came over? Who do you think pays the bills for these illegials when they come over? The taxpayers. Let them come over and then go home.

First, stop using the incorrect term, illegal immigrants. The people you are talking about are illegal aliens.

Americans are not anti-immigration. Quite the opposite. America is a country of immigrants. Nearly every family is a family of immigrants. Immigrants have always, and will always be, welcome.

But those that break our immigration laws are not immigrants. They are illegal aliens. What they should be doing, is staying home and fixing their own countries problems.

Illegal aliens are not welcome.

I'm all for letting the ones already here stay. No point in trying to round up over 12 million people, and thats just the ones they sort of know about.

the ones who do good, and not the ones who live off the state and get into non-stop trouble, yes they should allow them to stay, but its not always the U.S. job to help everyone, cause when we need or have needed the help other countries always turn their backs on us!!!
