your mom is right. put mothballs around your house but be careful about putting too much since the smell can get to you too.

Cats always like their neighbours, hence they bring them presents of dead mice or birds and also they pooh in their garden. It means they like you but it can become annoying. You can buy pepper powder that would make them less likely to deliver any presents!!! Do not feed them or make a fuss of them, and even chase them away without hurting the cat . Also, if you are not in a hose pipe ban area as in the UK you can spray the cat with a hose a they hate that,
I have a cat so do not dislike them just giving you my advise.
The bottom line is DO NOT let them in the house with a bird or mouse as it is possibly still alive and will give you loads of grief when it is running/flying through the house.
My bird feeders have a cage round them so the birds feel secure from cats and birds of prey. But it's one reason why the birds have so many babies.Good luck

i myself have never heard of the mothball trick, but i would be wary of it, as the smell might just chase of any birds that still come around, or might start. and birds have been known to eat mothballs, which could just up your death rate of birds. cats are very picky creatures, and either you have done something to make this cat like you, or you have done nothing and it fells a strong pull to you, it obviously likes you. i wouldnt sugest being mean to the cat, because that is wrong.... but you could try to move your feeders to places the cat cant access easily,m say off of the awning of your home for example. there are somethings that are solar powered that are created to ward of cats and dogs and other 4 legged creatures away from your property, but i am honstly not sure as to how well they trully work- it could very well be another "wonderfull" marketing scam. if nothing else, speak to your neighbor about his/her cat, and find out if maybe there could be some way of keeping the animal inside, if you cant stand the cat bringing you the honor of its kills.

He's bringing you things because it's a gift. It's a way of saying, "You rank higher than me."

Next time he does it, reject the thing. Make sure he sees you with it, and give it a toss away from your porch.

EDIT: Mothballs are for skunks and insects only. They have a lot of strange and interesting chemicals that may actually hurt the cat.

The cat likes you. aww. Cats bring you the "kill" as a sign of affection. I've never heard of mothballs, but I was wondering... does this cat even have a collar on? Most cat collars have bells on them to warn birds and other creatures of the cat's presence.

I confine my cats to my yard with cat fence-in and my neighbors got a young cat that wanted very much to come in for visits. I love all cats and Tommy too and he was getting my cats all fussed with his presence on my fence. A few shots with the hose seemed to cure him of that.

I am sorry you can't have the pleasure of feeding birds. That's one reason I keep my cats only on MY property.

Hope the squirting will keep the cat away.

This cat REALLY likes you for some reason. Those are his trophies and he'd giving them to you. Not sure what to tell you to do really. Onces they love ya hard to make um stop haha. If your feeding him or something stop doing see if he stops too.I know how you feel though...not a great morning wake up. Mothballs are for skunks I think not cats.

The cat brings you dead animals as a "present"; it must like you. If you really want it to stop, then be mean to it. It will stop bringing you things when it decides it doesn't like you anymore.

I know it sounds stupid but I swear it's true.

moth balls should help, or rub lemon juice around the area ad they hate citrus. they do it becasue they like you though. They realise that you don't hunt, think its becase you can't so try to protect you by hunting for you. sweet really, they obviously like you more than their own owner!

speak to the owner and see if they have done anything to deter kitty form bringing dead things to them. if so follow suit. good luck.
