That may solve the illegal immigrant problem, but it will lead to the mexican people being even more disadvantaged than they are now. If mexico became part of the US, people from the original 50 states would claim or buy all the land in mexico and kick the people out in the street. This is because 1. there are no deeds in mexico and 2. mexican land is dirt cheap.

I'd have to agree, then we don't have an immigration problem from Mexico. We now have more coastline to patrol. It may seem like an interesting prospect on the surface, but there's a lot more to it than what meets the eye. I'm sure We could do it, but don't we have enough to do with the middle east as is? I could see taking it over as a territory like Puerto Rico, but how long will either be a territory before becoming a state.

I've been saying annex Mexico, since I don't think their greedy corrupt leaders would go along. But look what happened last time. Spain lost New Spain who lost Mexico who lost the north. They worked it all out. Now hundreds of thousands of Mexicans are claiming this (Southwest and California) is their country and we are the illegals. I don't think it matters what we do, they will just do whatever they want. And the rich will whine that they have to pay a living wage.

Actually, the U.S. has already been bought by someone else. The majority of land ownership in this country now belongs to foreign interests and creditors. One of our largest creditors, a nation we owe the most money to, is North Korea. But, I like your thinking. Your idea is an example of the kind of thinking that will save the world. Don't stop thinking outside the edges, because the area inside the edges has become a no man's land of backward, corrupt, shortsightedness.

This would be a very bad idea. Think about it.
1st of all, there is no way the international community would approve of it. Think about the reaction they had when we liberated/invaded (depending on your viewpoint) Iraq.
2nd. If we did we would have to spend a ton of money to bring them up to our standard of living, to pay for welfare. If we thought Medicare was stretched right now, buying Mexico would be the death blow.
Before you propose such stupid things you need to think about the hidden costs. Sure all those things would be good, but no deal is perfect. There are always hidden costs.

Hell, let's buy Iraq instead ........
with all the billions we have already spent
over there for "war on terror" ........ we should
already own that country. We could've taken
that same amount and just paid them all to leave,
then save all the oil for U.S. which would go
a long way to solving our current sky high energy
costs, and failing economy due to ENORMOUS
national debt.
And most important of all, it would stop our soldiers
from dying or serious battle wounds, which is priceless !

First of all it's Castro, know your politics
I bet if we asked them to vote, they would certainly come here,
but that's just one of the many issues our federal government has to deal with every day. Believe me, if people in Cuba could come here, they would. They are just waiting for they day Castro dies.
I mean why else do you think people sneak out of there on rafts and barely make it to Florida?? CASTRO!
oh yeah, if we ever bought mexico, the USA would turn into a complete hell hole. yeah, I feel bad for the imigrants who can't get jobs, but i mean, seriously? the crime scene will be out of this world, with all of the money that's here and all...

Except with the small problem america is already in debt. Spending at least a trillion dollars buying a country would make the economy collapse.

Last I heard, they owe us so much money that we should just forclose. Most of the Mexican people want to be Americans anyway. Just think, all our government forms are already available in Spanish.
The real question is... How many states would we divide it into and how much representation would they receive?

Not a good idea. Why would people ever want to be bought out and loose their identity? And on the other hand why would people want to buy out another country and loose their identity too for that matter. It would never work.
