Isn't that something that needs to come from within? But then again, would life be worth living without the people in our lives? So are we all dependent upon others for our happiness? Any ideas?

Our happy basically comes from within. We can't count on any one else to make us happy. That does't mean that other people can't contribuate to our happiness. But, basically we are responsible for our own happiness. We can make choices to do things that can contribuate to our own and other peoples happiness.
Because we are human we thrive on being around other people.
If we understand the fact that our happiness comes from within we then won't blame others for our lack of happiness. And we can also enjoy having people in our lives that contribute to our happiness. And like wise we can illiminate those who bring us unhappiness. The wisdom we need is to find a balance in life, because no one can be so perfect to give us what we need.
In life we need balance.

they can help.
I agree that you need to be happy with yourself, but there is something to be said for companionship. The people that NEED to be in a relationship to be happy.. no they never will be.

I like to know that there is someone there that if i have a bad day will care, will hold me, will make me laugh.. whatever, kind of makes my bad day better knowing that they are there.

I think they can help, but not do it all.
Some people need people more than others.
