Homosexuality is an abomination and it goes against the laws of God and nature.

Better for everybody. The day gays became proud of their sinful ways not only damned them but our entire society as a whole.

If I recall correctly, it was the Republicans who brought out the whole gay marriage thing as a smoke screen to blur our vision of the disaster that is the Iraq/Terrorism war.....

So, yes, the country was much better off when the whole gay issue was "in the closet" - because Clinton was president, and Bush hadnt had a chance to F&*K it all up yet....

In the grand scheme of things, it seems better to people when they are not confronted by the reality of difficult issues.

However, just because you were uninformed about it does not mean that homosexuality was at all absent. By learning about your gay neighbors, you and the rest of the country are better informed about the nature of a large percentage of the citizenry.

Here are some benefits for the country that come from having gay people come out:

1. Fewer dishonest marriages. It's better for homosexuals to come out comfortably and reduce the risk of creating dishonest marriages. In olden days, even Oscar Wilde got married, which made both him and his wife miserable. I wouldn't wish that kind of pain on some wife whose husband married the wrong gender.

2. Support for gay teenagers, who are more likely to commit suicide than any other adolescent group. Because they can get emotional support and have a reduced sense of isolation, the suicide risk among gay teenagers is dropping.

3. Reduced blackmail potential. The risk of blackmail and similar extortion put national and corporate secrets in jeopardy in the past. The acceptance of gay people in the culture has cut this risk enormously.

4. Broader diversity in the community. Communities that are not homogeneous are more resilient and can draw upon more creative problem solving resources. Gay people frequently contribute to community diversity.

5. Greater community improvements. When childless gay couples (still the majority of gay couples) move into a community, they frequently have extra income and time to spend on improving properties and working with local community groups.

But the biggest reason of all: People suffer less when they come out of the closet, and why would you want to increase suffering in the world by wishing them back into secrecy?

Better for whom?

It certainly was not better for homosexuals, and they are people and citizens, too.

Homosexuality harms no one. Not a soul. It neither picks your pocket nor breaks your legs. To oppress people without justification is immoral. And Bronze Age prejudices written in an ancient book are not a reasonable justification.

The light of fairness is just beginning to break upon the horizon for our homosexual brothers and sisters. We've a long way to go till we can call things fair, but that time will come.

hmmmm lets see what happened before homosexuals came out of the closet.

Before homosexuals came out of the closet:

We had slavery, segregation, black men were pulled from the streets and lynched for fun, some were even punished for crimes they didn't commit, we had a civil war, and a cold war, and deadly hurricanes, we also had a strain of a deadly influenza that killed a great deal of the population at that time, and we also had a Great Depression.

After homosexuals came out of the closet:

Now we just have a jack *** in the white house, and Jews fighting with Muslims.

Yeah our country was really better off before homosexuals came out the closet (I was being sarcastic) why don't you do this country a favor, and be honest and come out of the closet, and stop living a lie.

If only we could go back to the old days, when we crapped in huts in the yard (wiping our butts with the Sears catalog), had eggs for breakfast that like or not had Salmonella, when influenza was a death sentence, when black people were slaves instead of actual people, and when abortions were simply carried out in secret instead of debated!

Oh happy days!

You are a moron!

Homosexuality is not an abomination. An abomination is when someone does not grow up and prefers to live in caves.

BTW, REPORTED again.

Nope. But the country will be much better off when bigots no longer hold positions of power or continue to spread their hatred to their offspring.

I'm hoping to see a more tolerant humanity within my lifetime.

this is a civilized society, and for the most part, can deal with different kids of people in the world.
God made gay people just as he made you, get over it! It's not a choice.

Of course not.
Our country was much better off when hate-filled bigots minded their own business and their own sexual orientation instead of spewing their venom in public, don't you agree?

At least most of these bigots have enough sense to not call themselves "christians," since their thoughs, words, and deeds are directly against their religious teachings. WWJD?

Oh yeah and our country was also better off when we had slaves and women didn't have the right to vote. The world is moving forward so should you.
