Pontius Pilate gave the people the option to let Jesus free, and instead they freed a murderer. Chances are, even if Pontius Pilate let Jesus free, the people still would have killed him all the same. Pilate did not order Christ's execution. He washed his hands of the situation, and gave Jesus to the people to do as they wished. Perhaps Pilate could have kept Jesus under custody, but that wouldn't have fufilled the prophecy, now would it?

Jesus had a mission on earth to die for the sins of the people so they could go to heaven. He would have died at the hands of someone, but it happened to be the Roman soldiers, at the urging of the Jewish priests.

Because they gave the jews a choice, and when they chose Jesus to die the roman leader in charge washed his hands of Jesus death.

Jesus main purpose for coming to Earth was to die... Did the Romans performed the actual act, they wanted Him dead as did many Jews. Jews wanted Him dead because He claimed to be equal to God and Romans wanted Him dead because they were affraid He would try and overtake Caesar.

Of course it was. Crucifixtion was the most common method of execution used by the Romans. The roads to Rome were lined with crosses with bodies on them. Jesus was one of many crucified.

THE SINS OF THE WORLD KILLED JESUS.

For God so loved the world that he gave his only son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

God loved this depraved, sinful world so much that he wanted to give us all a way to have eternal life instead of living in darkness, separated from God. So he sent his Son, Jesus Christ, to die on a cross--to shed his blood to redeem us from the cost of sin. Jesus rose again--fulfilling the prophecy of the Messiah----the Lamb of God, the last sacrifice required for the forgiveness of sin.

Jesus died because of the world's sin---but the sinful, hateful and lost Roman soldiers were the physical tools used by God to spit on His son, to beat him, scourge him, and nail him to a cross.

We crucify him anew every time we deny him, every time we sin and know we're sinning, every time someone mocks him or curses him.

God had to send his son to die for all of us. And we continue to deny him----continue to crucify him. Forgive us, Lord.

Because Pilot found no fault in him and washed his hands. The people demanded Barrabas the murderer's
release, and condemned Jesus. The soldiers did the dirty work, as today the do.

Technically, it was the Romans who did the actual act, but the Jews betrayed him.

NOBODY killed Jesus. He said himself, that he could have
called upon his Father, and an army of angels would have come to his call. Jesus laid his life down willingly, for spiritual reasons we are only learning to understand.
