Okay... So I am 17 years old, only 5'3 and I weigh about 115 pounds. My weight is healthy and I'm a little toned, so I'm not complaining. However, I would really like to lose a few pounds, maybe 5 or 10 (alright, that's in my dreams! :p) and I would need advice. I lost 10 pounds since the beginning of summer, 'cause I tend to put on weight during the school year since I study really hard and can't find enought time to work out. I also work in a summer camp, wich helps ;) My breakfasts contain about 200 calories, my lunches 450 and I don't know about my diner, but I think it's a little (okay, a lot) more. I eat well. So I was wondering,
1. What else could I do to lose an extra 5 pounds quickly (I already exercice every night)?
2. My mother cooks diner meet in butter all the time, and she puts a lot and won't listen to me when I ask her to stop. What can I do about it?
3. What can I do to prevent gaining weight this school year?
4. How many calories a da should I take?

Thanks!

Exercise and activity in combination with a healthy diet is the best way to loose weight.

A healthy diet is often confused with a diet with little fat or little carbs or some other unsustainable regimen. Rather a healthy diet is a little of everything in moderation. Fats like butter are okay. Carbs like bread, fruit, and even some chocolate are okay. The only one to be wary of if you are trying to loose weight is high fructose corn syrup. Many nutritionalists advise against it because it is a high calorie sugar that does not suppress your appetite the way table sugar or other sweeteners with higher concentrations of glucose do.

1. Don't slack off on the exercise. Every night is good so long as you have a rest day or two per week. You have to be patient. Exercise is not a "quick fix" for weight problems. Rather it's a lifestyle change that takes place over time.

2. Cooking meat in butter is not a problem so long as you eat a well rounded diet with vegetables, fruits, grains, and dairy. (Stay away from processed foods most of which contain high fructose corn syrup.)

3. Keep exercising and eat healthy. If you do those two things you won't need to worry about the number of calories.

4. About 2,000 per day. However, if you eat a well rounded diet and exercise you don't need to worry about calorie counting. Remember that the easiest way to keep your diet in check is to read labels and try your best to stay away from high fructose corn syrup.

My weight is about like yours - but since I'm older - it's even harder to maintain it. I'm always trying to lose that 5-7 lbs too - because I feel so much better. Just do one thing - doesn't have to be a big deal - personally, I would just "not eat sugar" - if you can't stop cold turkey - give up soda. Fat does not make you fat or put weight on. Actually sugar makes you fat. If you drink a soda and that soda has 100 carbs in it - it means you have to BURN those carbs by exercising or the body stores the extra carbs as fat. Give up the sugar - you'll be amazed... oh sugar = potato chips, pretzels, cookies, cakes and of course the regular sugary stuff (drink drinks with splenda - it's healthier). Try not to eat after 6. (no snacking).... or pick on vegetables. You lose a lot by not eating at night.... it's healthier anyway.... at least it'll get the 5 lbs off.... then monitor what you do when the weight comes on.

At your age/weight and given the amount of exercise you do (i.e. daily), you should be eating around 1800 to 2000 calories per day. Even if you're eating a huge supper, it looks like you're significantly under that. Obviously any calory count is going to be just a rough estimate, and I'm surprised that you are counting calories for your meals.

Seriously though - instead of worrying about how much you weigh, you would be better off worrying about being healthy. That means eating healthy, exercising regularly (in a fun way), and NOT WORRYING about how much you weigh.

As far as cooking in butter, as long as your overall diet is good (i.e. lots of veggies and fruit, plenty of fiber, good quality protein etc), I wouldn't worry about it. There's plenty of time to play around with your diet later on when you have your own kitchen.

Small addendum - if your caloric intake drops too low, your body will switch into "starvation mode", which means that it stores up as much fat as it possibly can.

I'm no giant veg fan. I drink a low soduium V8 every day to get my veggies. Plus I take I multi-diet. Even if you do not just like the style of a V8 it simplest takes approximately 60 seconds to chug one after which you'll off set the style with a cracker or whatever. Then pass to the shop and get A 20-25 pound weight. You simplest want one. Use this weight three occasions every week or extra. Use it to your palms, for the period of squats, and so on. It's also referred to as a pedometer. They say 10,000 steps is maximum to preserve your weight down. For now simply attempt to upload yet another two,000 steps in keeping with day. and regularly growing it by way of 500 steps over the following few months until you get to ten,000. The first-rate solution to shed pounds is simply stroll. 30 min if you'll. I do three 10 min walks it really works the identical. I can;t stand going for walks a entire 30 min until it is in a park or whatever. Good Luck

Why don't you talk to your doctor? You are healthy already, so I don't know why you want to lose even more weight. But speaking to him will give you a better idea of how much you should lose and a realistic period of time to do it in.

Half the people on here have no clue and you still have an adolescent metabolism, not an adults. Talk to your doctor, it's the safest.
