I keep hearing it and I'm getting tired of it because I'm a Seventh-day Adventist myself.

I think a lot of people need some understanding. Take Don for example. He loves to call religious groups cults, but he has no evidence to support it.

"Sorry about that - BUT it is being called a CULT because of its uniqueness.

1 Shabbot where, I think, all other Christian (categorized) use Sunday."

So Seventh-day Adventist is a cult because they do the same thing Jesus, Peter, and Paul did? That makes no sense.

"2 Unique in being Vegetarians."

Not all Adventists are vegetarians. It is only required to follow the food laws in the Old Testament.

"3 Unique in being very heavy on teaching ""Revaluation""."

And have you read the "Left Behind" books? It seems that a lot of churches are heavy on Revelation.

"4 When ones teaching is that their church is required for salvation - all others are DOOMED - it makes people very suspicious that it is a CULT."

And as I told Don before, Adventists believe that people of all faiths can be saved and no human can say who is saved and who is not. This is because the Bible teaches that only God knows the heart.

It is fine for people to say that one group or another is a cult, but it normally makes sense to have some evidence to back it up.

Hello. I am not a Seventh Day Adventist; however don't let these people get under your skin. These type of people obviously have not studied any thing about Seventh day Adventist. It is not just you belive me. They make fun of the Pentecostal, Baptist, Church of Christ and every other denomination and undominational churches that there are. It is hurtful to you and makes you angry I understand that. That's exactly what they want. Don't give into your anger because then it only leads to doubt. So be careful not to doubt your faith. God is coming back for His people soon enough. Hang in there it is just a part of persecution you are dealing with. We all have been there in one way or another. May God bless you.

The Seventh-Day Adventists ARE NOT a cult!! They are christians who follow all 10 Commandments! To look at their fundamental beliefs go to this link:http://www.adventist.org/beliefs/fundamental/index.html

I myself am a Seventh-Day Adventist & am tired of people critizing us and saying that Ellen G. White was not a prophetess, and so on. If she was not a prophetess, then why did God reveal her visions of the future & of the Great Conflict between God and Satan. In fact, did you know, that she actually saw the Twin Towers fall? It's in one of her books called: Last Day Events.

Sorry about that - BUT it is being called a CULT because of its uniqueness.

1 Shabbot where, I think, all other Christian (categorized) use Sunday.

2 Unique in being Vegetarians.

3 Unique in being very heavy on teaching ""Revaluation"".

4 When ones teaching is that their church is required for salvation - all others are DOOMED - it makes people very suspicious that it is a CULT.

I hope that helps in at least understanding WHY people say CULT.

( I too have been called a cultist because I am not a promoter of any one segment of True Christianity)

I'm with you! We are not a cult because our church is based on Jesus Christ. We have our beliefs from the Bible, and while we find Ellen White helpful, her input is not necessary for our church. Basically, we are founded on the Bible as the Word of God alone. I see that others have written sarcastic remarks towards your question. Sad. A closed mind gathers no new thought. People would never consider us a cult if we'd "just" go to church on Sunday (like everyone else), and get rid of our health principles. Then we'd just be plain old "vanilla" Christians.

For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son,the whosoever believe in him shall not perish but have evelasting life. Judge not, that you be not judged. Satan is the accursee, dont' follow he lead for he is the deciever of all evil & will make you believe an lie. Visit an Seventh-Day-Adventist Church yourself, pray to Jesus & ask him to remove those negative thoughts & replace them with clean, good thing which will come. The world will end soon- if you find a moment go to gatewaybible.com & read Revelation & Daniel King James version- it is peoples like you that I want to reach out to just to let you know that God loved us so much that he gave his only son up to die for you & I could, or would you be able to do that in your life today? I will personally pray for each person respondind to this question with the denial of the Lord. I'm Adventist, as a matter of fact I will be leaving shortly to go to our Revelation seminar. I will have special pray for all of you as a whole.
Jesus can change you, He did it for me.

May God Bless you all & have mercy on your soul.

I love you, but Jesus loves you more Pray it works

I really don't know the difference between 7th day adventists and christians. I'm a christian and a vegetarian, so I think we're probably pretty similar but I don't think it's a cult. If I'm correct the only difference between your and my religion is the vegetarian lifestyle and church on saturdays. Which who cares what day someone goes to church? No where in the bible does it say the Sabbath is on Sunday. I don't think God really cares what day you go to church.

People who call another religion a "cult" are really just saying "you believe differently than I do and I am an intolerant bigot and I'm going to call you a name now so I feel better about myself."

I wouldn't sweat it too much...

You know if you take offense at everything thrown at you by ignorant people, you will eventually need blodd pressure medicine. Some people like to push other people buttons, Why?...Its just the devil in them. If you are stable in who you are and what you believe no one can shake that. Besides saturday is the Sabbath.
