Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

I hope this poem made you feel better. It did with me, when I lost my dog. I know how it feels to lose someone you love, but life goes on. You cannot stop the things in nature. But don't think that he is gone forever. No matter what, his soul remains, especially in your heart. Don't forget that your dog will always remember you, and someday you will meet again!

I know the way you suppose, my 2 ancient cats gave up the ghost across the equal time. I'm thirteen and one was once 18, one was once 19. Getting my brain on some thing else aid me take care of their deaths. I began targeting institution somewhat bit extra, working towards my flute extra, and striking out with my peers extra. Just doing whatever however sitting there crying over their loss. Also, I concept to myself that they're most commonly happier now then they have been after they have been in discomfort approximately to go away. And, after a 12 months or so of recuperating, I obtained a brand new kitten (however do not get a brand new dog too quickly or you can suppose dangerous). I wish you suppose greater, it may be difficult getting over a misplaced animal.

sorry for your loss.try to understand that it was time for him to go to play with the angels that are looking for a dog like that.go to your local animal shelter and adopt another dog that needs love and attention.if my dog died i beleive i would go crazy he is 14 years old and has three legs he has got hit by a car and they vet thought the best thing was to put him down or loose a leg should i told him take the leg if he would be comfortable and he said there shouldn't be a problem so good to say he keeps up with my other 2 dogs.i just got a rott from the local shelter because in due time i know that he will leave one day and i hope that the rottie helps me though it i know she won't replace him but i know she needs love so think about it and good luck honey life is short be happy

I am sure you are feeling a lot of guilt right now, that is part of the grieving process, how ever accidents do happen, and it really wasn't your fault. Try to remember the fun and happy times you had with your dog, and my favorite thought when a pet dies, is to imagine it in doggie heaven, layed out on a comfy bedding with the biggest bone you ever saw, and all the room to run and play that you could imagine....then smile and know in your heart that one day you will see your faithful companion again.

Just know that dogs don't have a sense of time - only we do. They live from day to day, moment to moment - and have no concept of tomorrow or yesterday. His whole day is 'what is'; playing, eating, pooping..... so your dog is at peace. I think the best therapy is to allow yourself a little space so you can remember him - and go out and find another puppy - it works magic and fills the hole - which you can't do when someone close to you dies - especially if you find a dog of the same type breed.

Wow same thing happened to my best friend twice, the first time she got a new dog and it died too same way. But getting a new dog isnt the answer. I think the best thing would be to try not to think about it , and remember its okay to cry because it helps you heal. But try not to think about the what ifs and you'll make it through.

see as such don have a first hand experience but a very very good friend of mine had the same problem.. the best way would be to you know to talk about it to someone u r close with..that would help you ease the pain.. and later when u'v gathered urself up get another one.. may sound wierd now but it would help

First of all, before you can heal, you have to grieve. It is a terrible loss.

There is no way of "hurrying it up" by getting another "replacement puppy." Once you have come to terms with your loss, then, and only then, should you get another dog.

When it happened to us we swore we would never have another dog. But then, with time, we just knew we were ready.
