Do not feed your cat any dried food that contains corn. Corn is used to fatten animals for slaughter. Most of those animals live no longer than two years.

Switching from dry to a good quality canned should help too. The canned meat has more moisture and not a lot of carbohyrates. Wellness .Prairie, and Natural Balance have canned foods with many "flavors". 95% of commercial foods have corn in them. Read the labels and eliminate the corn from your cat's diet.

This doesn't happen overnight so be patient! Like all successful diets a true "lifestyle" change is necessary.

A cat shouldn't weigh that much. My cat is 15 pounds and he's still growing. He doesn't look fat at all. He's really long. He's a maine coon and they're known to reach 18-20 pounds but they have a huge body frame. Continue on the diet food and help him exercise by playing with him with strings and toys. Also get a lazer light and let him chase that around.

There are only a few breeds that should weigh that much. I can't remember which ones right now. But as everyone else has said, 20 pounds is way too much for the rest of them. You should definitely start to get it's weight down. The biggest NO NO are those treats. They should be given sparingly! They're kitty JUNK FOOD! (THEIR VERSION OF A BIG MAC)
GOOD LUCK

of course not...atleast not pet kitties.
a good weight for an adult heathly kitty is between 10-15 ounds...15 pounds being a bit on the heavy side. most cats are lazy and are generally heavy, but if your cat is over 15 pounds i would totally consider a diet. call any vet and they will help you with this.

That is heavy for a domestic cat, try weight control cat food and play with your cat for exercise. Being over weight can be hard on your pets joints and cause diabetes.
