I had blood transfusion a year ago and i was wondering if it is still have possible to have complications? (i heard from someone that the effects may show 5-10 years after the transfusion..)

Years ago, before blood donors were tested for certain disease, it was true that complications sometimes showed up years later. Now, however, that is not the case. Blood donors are tested for HIV and hepatitis, among other diseases, so the chance of you having complications years from now is very slim. Complications, called transfusion reactions, happen during the transfusion, usually within the first 15 minutes. You have very little to worry about at this point.

Complications from a transfusion happen quickly, not months or years later. Unless of course the blood was infected with a disease, then that could express itself years down the road, but that would be the disease, and not the blood.

Frequently your body will develop antibodies years after the transfusion. Several years afterwards, I tested positive for exposure to something I didn't know I had ever been exposed too. Unfortunately, this is fairly common.
